BWI - Portalocity Lounge [Friday Morning]

Chloe got off her flight from New York and followed the signs to the lounge. She dumped the duffle bag of clothes that Andrew had hastily purchased on the floor and slumped into one of the uncomfortable airport chairs.

She was still against this plan but she realized on the flight that sulking wouldn't make it any better so she was going to put on a brave face and make the most of it.

The men were intimidating yes, but Elle had been captivated by that bag which seemed to move here and there if she watched it long enough. Curious and seemingly undaunted, she walked over in her head to toe pink and asked with a super bright grin: "Hi! What's in the bag?"

One of the guards started to speak, but there was suddenly a ripping noise followed by a rather happy cry. Being the big, tough guards they were, they turned and ran out the door, straight for the portal back to Wutai.

A smallish pair of hands grabbed either side of the hole and ripped it open even more. Then a head emerged from the hole, dark hair in disarray as bright eyes darted around quickly. "Where are they? When I get my hands on them," the girl growled as she struggled out of the bag.

"Omigod!" What was happening here? Elle glanced at the fleeing guards back to the one who seemed intent on tearing the bag wide open.

Then it dawned on her.

"Omigod someone shoved you in a bag? Why that's illegal! Criminal!"

That was their smartest plan of action!

Yuffie stood up and looked around, then made to chase after the guards, except the door closed before she got there and wouldn't open for her no matter how much she yanked on the handle.

"Stupid, idiotic, moronic guards. I'm going to make them pay. They will hurt for days when I'm through."

Her eyes would only boggle for a moment longer. Maybe exchange students arrived differently. Maybe exchange students traveled with guards and in bags and have tempers because of it.

Elle could totally understand the attitude. Seriously.

"Hi!" she called out, waving her hand to try and get her attention. "Maybe I can help you?"

Yuffie stopped tugging on the door handle and slowly turned to look at the girl. The girl dressed in more pink than the Honey Bee girls, and carrying a dog that looked like a lunch snack at Turtle's Paradise.

"I doubt it," she said as she opened the trunk. She pulled out her four-point shuriken (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2PuLGUs5e0A/Sapw-nvswQI/AAAAAAAABZY/iu2lEP0bR68/s400/yuffie.jpg) and then closed the lid and sat on it.

Oh. The girl must be an actress or involved in theatre production or something. That thing totally looked like some sort of prop.

"I'm Elle Woods," she offered, not yet put off enough to turn and leave. "Are you going to Fandom too?"

Yuffie glanced at Elle as she pulled a piece of cloth out of her pocket.

"Yuffie Kisaragi, the greatest ninja of Wutai. Yes, I will be going to that school," she said as she started to polish the blades.

"Omigod, you're an exchange student!" Elle smiled wide. "Where is Wutai?" The ninja part skipped over her head for now.

Yuffie just stared at the girl for a moment before smiling sweetly. "It's in the northern most part of the island west of the Western Continent."

Yeah, see? Elle was geographically challenged unless one was referring to a certain line of clothing and where it came from. Not that she would understand that answer even if she wasn't. Thus her reply was: "So it's like... cold there?"

"Only in the winter," Yuffie said with a roll of her eyes. "Otherwise it's as pleasant as the rest of Gaia."

"I thought you were from Wutai?" she asked, slightly confused.

Yuffie smiled that sweet smile again. A smile that usually meant she was up to something. "Gaia is the name of the world that I'm from."

She was pretty sure by now that Elle hadn't read the pamplet.

It was a sweet smile and Elle couldn't help but smile sweetly back. And then her smile kind of froze.

...

Oh, Elle read the pamphlet, she couldn't wait to meet the exchange students!

"I'm sorry. I just hallucinated. Did you say world?"

Yuffie grinned and nodded. "Yes. I came through a portal to get here." She felt proud of herself for not commenting on the hallucinating.

Elle chuckled. "You're having fun with me, aren't you? It's okay, I don't mind. I love a good joke myself."

"I'm not joking. I'm from a planet called Gaia and I was brought here through a portal." While trussed up in a burlap sack because she had been adamantly against being brought here.

Maybe the girl was hallucinating? That had to be it.

"Why did you come here, to our world then?" Okay, that was a totally creepy question.

Yuffie was rather enjoying this, breaking someone's brain.

"Because my father wants me to be prepared for running our territory, so he sent me here thinking I would be less distracted from learning."

Ooops, she tore the cloth on the blade there. It is rather sharp.

Omigod. She was a heathen? A tribal heathen from some sort of village that maybe brainwashed her? Telling her she was from another world and omigod that would explain those guards. Woudln't it? Elle was wondering if she should feel sorry for her and try to enlighten her as to--

"Omigod that's like... a sharp thing you have there."

Elle wisely took a step back.

Yuffie looked at her shuriken and then looked up at Elle. "Of course it is. If it wasn't, I couldn't kill things for supplies." Or, you know, Shinra soldiers.

"...things?"

Elle was sure that Fandom had those who dealt with troubled teens. The poor girl had to be on drugs. Or glue.

And there was weapons security, surely. Right? That thing looked positively evil.

"Yes, things." Yuffie was trying very hard not to laugh. "Like, adamantaimai, bat eyes, the occasional thunderbird. Sometimes a puppy or kitten if it gets in the way. Oh, and sometimes a Shinra soldier."

Elle's intake of air had to be heard a mile away.

"A puppy!" She held Bruiser closer. "A kitten! What are you? Some sort of barbarian witch?" The bat eyes clued her in.
