BWI - Portalocity Lounge [Friday Morning]

Chloe got off her flight from New York and followed the signs to the lounge. She dumped the duffle bag of clothes that Andrew had hastily purchased on the floor and slumped into one of the uncomfortable airport chairs.

She was still against this plan but she realized on the flight that sulking wouldn't make it any better so she was going to put on a brave face and make the most of it.

"Apology accepted," Layla said cheerfully. "I would have hated for you to have been detained by airport security. It would have no doubt ended badly for you."

"No doubt," Tybalt agreed, albeit somewhat warily. Airport security probably would have had a heyday with the guns that he had packed, as well. The laws of Verona were decidedly different from most other places, in that regard. "Thou art quite the thoughtful one. I suppose I should be thanking thee for the reminder, as well?"

"If you would like," Layla said politely and offered her hand. "I'm Layla Miller. I know stuff."

Tybalt was now looking at her hand as though it was entirely possible that it was going to jump up and bite him. Most people didn't tend to remain so... So irritatingly chipper when faced with his attitude, really. This was something of a new experience for him.

After a moment, he shrugged one shoulder, put what was left of his cigar back into his jacket pocket, and accepted her hand for a shake. She had saved him from airport security. He had to grant her that much.

"'Tis with... pleasure, good lady, that I make thine acquaintance on this fine morn. I am Tybalt, and a Capulet." A pause, while he took her greeting into consideration. "And I hesitate to ask what it is that thou feels so compelled to announce thy knowledge of."

"Well I know stuff of course!" Layla replied with a grin. "Which part confused you? The knowing? The Stuff? Or do you have issues with personal pronouns?"

Not staring. Making a point not to stare. Must. Not. Stare.

Tybalt was staring. Bitch was crazy.

"Stuff."

Yes, he was kind of stuck on that point.

"Well you know," Layla said with a casual shrug, and definitely enjoying his reaction. "Stuff-stuff."

[identity profile] feline-royalty.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Stuff. Stuff." There was a kind of bland note, there, while Tybalt worked his head around that. "One cannot exactly say that statement narrows down the options."

Nope. There was a lot of stuff out there, really.

"Well for instance I know it's probably not a good idea to bring a loaded weapon into an airport after 9/11," Layla replied. "But hey, it's you're butt they'll strip search. Not mine."

"After what?"

Tybalt was from 1996. It was still probably not a great idea to bring a loaded weapon into an airport, but--

... Wait.

He leaned forward as the realization dawned upon him, hissing under his breath as he spoke.

"And what dost thou know of my Rapier, girl?"

"That you tend to be a little free with it when it comes to someone named Montague," Layla replied as she raised an eyebrow. "But I wouldn't worry too much. You'll eventually get what you deserve."

Tybalt jerked back at that statement as though somebody had burned him, wide-eyed for all of an instant before narrowing them again and curling his lip.

"Thou art mad," he decided. Because that explained things quite nicely, indeed. "Or else my reputation has broader reach than I had thought."

Stuff. Stuff, indeed.

"Possibly both."

Which wasn't going to stop him from taking a moment to make absolutely certain that his gun wasn't visible here, of course.

"Oh, I'm not crazy," Layla said not backing down. "I just know stuff."

Re: Mingle!

[identity profile] feline-royalty.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Too much, perhaps." It took an awful lot to have Tybalt Capulet back down. This girl had just managed it with a handful of words and a certain tone. "Thy knowledge of the name Montague is no surprise, as any who know of my family know also what I think of that name. My Rapier..."

He couldn't really explain that one away.

"Was a guess, at best. A stroke of luck, or intuition. No divination happened here."

He was also firmly in denial. Could anyone really blame him?

"I think you'll find the only people who know Montague are the once who watch him graduate from Fandom at the beginning of the summer,"
Layla replied. "And I'm not lucky. know stuff."

"Thou knowest... stuff," Tybalt agreed. It was kind of... flat, now. And he was taking steps backward.

Someone had slipped some sort of narcotic into his cigar, perhaps. There was something in the air. Something he ate this morning. This was an elaborate hoax intended to unsettle him in these new surroundings.

But this girl most certainly did not 'know stuff.'

"Nooooow, you're getting it," Layla said with a trace of a warning in her voice. "And it's best to remember that for the future. I'd hate for something bad to happen to you at school."
