Archery Workshop #1, 5/23, Danger Shop, Afternoon

As the students entered the Danger Shop, set up like a standard classroom for today, they were greeted by a diminutive, black-and-white Japanese girl in a silk robe, perched on a corner of the teacher's desk munching on a chocolate chip cookie. Next to her were a stack of handouts, a sign-in sheet, and a tray of assorted cookies from Jeff, God of Biscuits.

Written on the board behind the desk was, Sign in. Take a handout and a cookie. Direct any questions to the instructor. Behave. Or else.

Miho studied her students with a critical eye, trying to determine which of them were most likely to shoot one of their classmates by accident or try to take more than one cookie.

Parker sits down and reads the hand-out with intense attention, noting that she's going to need a hair tie, a chest protector, and that those boots she bought for Wilderness Survival might get workout in this class too. Most of the rules are similar to those on the gun range, so she has no problem with them.

She looks around, half-hoping someone has the guts to piss off Miho. It ain't gonna be her.

Gwynn is also reading the hand-out with interest. The rules make sense to her, so she has no problem.

She looks around and sees another girl reading. Minding her manners, she introduces herself.

"Hello. I'm Gwynn."

"Parker." Parker nods to her, and flips through the handout again. "You were one of the ones helping Pippi and Nadia last weekend."

"Need a rubber band?" asked Janet, who'd just tied her hair back into a ponytail and had somehow come up with a handful of hair ties that had been buried in the bottom of her backpack all year. "At least the rules are familiar enough, right?"

"True. But I don't think we'll need any hair ties today." Parker nodded toward Miho. "Does she look ready to take us to the range yet?"

Sam looked over the handout carefully, practically hearing his father's voice behind some of the guidelines, and glanced over at the girl he remembered meeting before...Parker, maybe?

"Do you know why no one's talking to the teacher?" he asked quietly.

And because sometimes she's evil, Parker says, "No. No idea. I'm just reading my handout, I don't know why other people aren't." She paused. Better not to get him completely killed. "Maybe if you raise your hand, she'll call on you and people will start asking questions?"

Edward plops down, skimmimg over the handout with mild interest. He'd used a crossbow once or twice, but this is quite different. He shoved the rest of his cookie into his mouth and glanced around.

Isabel sat down to read. The rules made sense. Hopefully they'd make it through without anyone being injured.

Dawn read the handouts carefully, almost surprised that there were real rules and guidelines to this kind of thing.

Dean plopped down in a seat near Dawn, grinned at her, then glanced through the handout.

He didn't see anything that didn't make sense or that didn't match up pretty well with the rules Dad had always had when training them: take care of your weapon, don't horse around with them, and don't shoot your brother.

Finished reading, he looked up and around, but there didn't seem to be any next step.

Maybe he was missing something. He leaned over and asked Dawn, "Is this all we're doing today?"

"Maybe?" Dawn whispered back, wondering what about her clothing choices for the day made other people think she knew what was going on.

Molly sat quietly, easting her cookie and reading her handout. Every now and then, she snuck glances at Miho.

Still bored, Dean looked around and saw another familiar face. "It's Molly right?"

Realizing that Parker probably wasn't the most healthy person to sit by, Sam switched seats and found himself by Molly. Unfortunately, that gave him a clear shot of Dawn and Dean talking, and he had to wonder if maybe getting taunted by Parker was better.

Sakurazaki frowns quietly as she reads the hand-out, her mind contantly making comparrisons that highlight the differences between a sword and a bow. She's begining to worry about her ability to possibly do this.

But, if all else fails, she knows she can always just go back to kicking ass with a nodachi. Reminding herself of that relaxes her a little.

She's got to admit, also, that she's very fascinated by the teacher, and spends most of her time just waiting for her to say something, because she knows that, should Miho say anything, Sakurazaki would listen.
