Archery Workshop #1, 5/23, Danger Shop, Afternoon

As the students entered the Danger Shop, set up like a standard classroom for today, they were greeted by a diminutive, black-and-white Japanese girl in a silk robe, perched on a corner of the teacher's desk munching on a chocolate chip cookie. Next to her were a stack of handouts, a sign-in sheet, and a tray of assorted cookies from Jeff, God of Biscuits.

Written on the board behind the desk was, Sign in. Take a handout and a cookie. Direct any questions to the instructor. Behave. Or else.

Miho studied her students with a critical eye, trying to determine which of them were most likely to shoot one of their classmates by accident or try to take more than one cookie.

About the scary little teacher, how you thought you were going to get to shoot things right off, whatever.

Parker signs in, says, "Konnichiwa, Miho," and takes exactly one cookie. She also leaves a plate of J,GoB brownies for the teacher as she takes the handouts.

Yes, she's getting her self-defense in early.

Parker sits down and reads the hand-out with intense attention, noting that she's going to need a hair tie, a chest protector, and that those boots she bought for Wilderness Survival might get workout in this class too. Most of the rules are similar to those on the gun range, so she has no problem with them.

She looks around, half-hoping someone has the guts to piss off Miho. It ain't gonna be her.

Giraffes?

Alanna signed in and took a cookie. She debated whether Faithful should get one as well and decided not to risk it.

D'you know that "Giraffes? Giraffes!" is a real book? /random thing discovered in Borders today. If you alread knew, carry on.

That's where it came from :D Bridgey read it to several of us in a chat room once and it spawned from there. I now own a copy. It's hilarious and has a story about "Ted 'Theodore' Logan" who was a giraffe and was Descartes' friend, but was not invited to his wedding.

Dean took a cookie and bit into it, holding it in his mouth as he signed in, and picked up the handouts.

He looked at their teacher with interest; so that was what the ninja looked like. She had an air about her that even if he hadn't known what she was, he'd have guessed that pissing her off would be a bad idea.

He hadn't expected her to be so hot though.

Gwynn signs in. She's happy and relaxed over the fact that at least in this class she'll do good and know what she's doing. She studies Miho and silently wonders how much better her skills could get under her teachings.

Gwynn is also reading the hand-out with interest. The rules make sense to her, so she has no problem.

She looks around and sees another girl reading. Minding her manners, she introduces herself.

"Hello. I'm Gwynn."

Edward signs in, grabbing a cookie and a handout. This should be slightly interesting, to say the least.

Edward plops down, skimmimg over the handout with mild interest. He'd used a crossbow once or twice, but this is quite different. He shoved the rest of his cookie into his mouth and glanced around.

Bel signed in and took a handout, looking around to see who else was taking the class. He grabbed a cookie as he walked away from the desk.

Isabel signed in, took a handout and a single cookie.

Isabel sat down to read. The rules made sense. Hopefully they'd make it through without anyone being injured.

Sam signed in, and took a handout, but left the cookies alone.

Buffy signed in, smiled brightly to the teacher, took a handout and a cookie.

Dawn signed in, took one cookie, the handouts, and a seat towards the front.

Bel settled down by Isabel. "Hey," he said. "Good morning. You ever used a bow before?"
