Detention, Depths of the Castle, Friday

So, one of the important things to realize about detention was that the monotony of everyone's daily lives was part of the punishment. That meant that even though someone had died yesterday, the day's schedule didn't change a bit.

After all, most of your little lives just weren't that important in the grand scheme of things.

Bruce wasn't aware of much of anything from yesterday. The emotional state that Raven had put him in from the day before was still intact and still... emotionally crippling.

Not that anyone felt differently in detention.

After Raven had fled from detention the day before, she'd wound up getting a fresh Imperio to shore up her fragmented mind. The conflicting guilt/sorrow/rage/defiance was contained again. Still, she felt strangely hesitant about going into detention, but it was her duty. She had to obey. Bruce had to be tended to, his emotions muddled so he could not bring forth enough rage.

"Good morning, Bruce," she said cheerfully, as if she hadn't murdered someone and had a complete meltdown the day before.

Jack didn't want to talk to anyone from the outside after yesterday's horrors, but the hour came whether he wanted it to or not.

His face was like stone as he watched the door.

And there was a Karla, walking directly towards him. She still wore the nasty smile from yesterday, but a truly careful observer might have noticed a few things were off. There was no bounce in her step, no crackling mischief in her eyes. She smiled and bared her teeth, but she was very careful not to look around at the sight of all the pain and misery around her.

Her eyes lighted on Jack and her smile grew wider. "Kiss kiss, wolf-boy!" she said, taking a seat next to him. "Given any thought to my proposal from yesterday?"

Goose just sat still from where he was sitting as he quietly waited to see what would happen today.

There was a visitor for him today! Wasn't that exciting? "Goose, huh?" Karla asked, sounding bored. "I suppose everyone's made the requisite 'is cooked' jokes already?"

Jonothon was standing near the entrance come visiting hours today, in case a certain murderer got it into her head that it was a good idea to traipse through the door today.

He was not in a good mood. The way his flames were tousling his hair about and spitting sparks into the air around him was probably testimony to that.

A certain murder did traipse through the door. The Imperio spell was freshly replaced, stabilizing her mind and making her go about her daily duty of tending to Bruce.

She wasn't sparing Jono a second glance as she came in, however.

"And here I am without any marshmallows," Karla said regretfully from behind him. "What a waste. Well, I suppose not for you. But for those of us with tastebuds, I mean."

Hello, Jono. Karla had important information to pass along to you. But since she didn't really know you, she was going to have to get you good and mad before she trusted the cover enough to pass it along.

Hanna warily eyed the entrance, nervous about who might visit today. She was quiet, hoping to go unnoticed for awhile.

Raven was on her way out (keeping her visit brief for some reason), but something caught her empathic ear. She paused to look over the blonde girl she'd never given much attention to before.

"What are you so afraid of?" she asked curiously. She probed a little, skimming over her fears. "Who is 'A'?"

Phoebe wasn't sitting or trying to be small today. She was pacing as she kept an eye on who came in.

Elle had never played with Phoebe before, but she was feeling like a challenge today.

"Hi," she said cheerfully. "You look rather... spirited today."

Oh Florida was definitely not coming out from under the cot now. However the fact that her thin blanket was under the cot with her, rather than on top where it was supposed to be was probably a violation of some kind.

Someone might want to have a talk with her about it. It was just unsanitary.

After what she had seen last night, Liara was... wary. Wary was a good word for it.

Wariness made her stubborn, though, and stubbornness meant that her jaw was set and her expression was defiant as visiting hours arrived.

K-Mart was curled up in a ball, praying nobody came to bother her. She'd had enough of it with Raven yesterday.

She clutched her kitten plate close to her chest, determined to hang onto it. It was something that was hers, damn it, and they couldn't take it from her.

"Principle Winchester." Karla tried to make it sound mocking, she really did. But being cruel was so much harder without the Imperio, even if she knew there was necessity behind it. "Is this what happens when we leave you in charge of the children? Things get so out of hand!"

On a psychic thread, unsure whether Zoe would hear it or not, Karla begged, *I'm here for the Resistance, I have a message! If you can hear this, give me a sign!* And below it was a pounding, pulsing beat of I'm sorry, so sorry, Mother Night, so sorry.

Facing Imperio had been nothing compared to this.

Stark didn't move from the spot he'd chosen after breakfast. He did turn so he could more easily see the door. He couldn't see Bobby and the door at one time, not with only one eye. Instead he kept moving his head, switching his gaze from one to the other.

He didn't have a good feeling about today.

Between talking to Karla, what happened to Sookie (and Bobby) and a very confused Sam, Dinah was getting close to the end of her tether. A quiet day would be good. Nothing more wrong. Please.

With the Imperio curse broken, Karla was really dreading returning to Detention. Not only was she unsure she could continue her deception without the muffling pink fuzziness from yesterday, she wasn't sure she could go in there and face the room.

After what she'd done.

After what Raven had done.

So instead, she was going to be very thorough in her inspection of the defenses. Not to put off the inevitable moment before going inside, goodness no! But to make sure that every damn second of pain and torment she'd inflicted on people was at least serving some kind of purpose.

Rinoa didn't bother to be scared of the visitors. She had nothing left to fear. Sookie's warm safe calm was gone. Angelo was dead. Squall had never loved her. They were all going to die down here.

She already knew those things were true. They couldn't show her anything else that would hurt.

She stroked the shirt-lump in her lap and crooned at it, soft lullabies from when she was a little girl. Her mother had sung to her every night, back before the car accident. It was safe to think of her mother. She was dead, too.

Bobby was still clutching on to Sookie's body as if his own life depended on it, the only acknowledgement that anything beyond her existed being the scowl he directed at anyone who he thought might be coming to take her away.

Alex stood up when visiting hours started. He figured at least he could distract someone's attention from one of the less stable among them for a few minutes or so.
