Detention, Depths of the Castle, Friday

So, one of the important things to realize about detention was that the monotony of everyone's daily lives was part of the punishment. That meant that even though someone had died yesterday, the day's schedule didn't change a bit.

After all, most of your little lives just weren't that important in the grand scheme of things.

Bruce wasn't aware of much of anything from yesterday. The emotional state that Raven had put him in from the day before was still intact and still... emotionally crippling.

Not that anyone felt differently in detention.

Jack was never the type to lose his appetite, and even Sookie's death didn't take it from him. He wished it had: you got to feel guilty, chomping away when everyone else was staring blankly into space.

So he ate his eggs, though even his appetite wasn't enough to really let him taste them. He might as well have been chewing on cardboard.

He probably would have chewed on cardboard.

Bobby didn't care to chat with anyone, no. He also wasn't going to let go of the body he'd been cradling in his arms since yesterday afternoon.

"We should do something," Jack said to anyone who might be listening. His voice sounded a bit feeble, though it gained strength as he kept talking. "Either plan a memorial or figure out some way to charge the guards, I don't care, I just can't sit still today."

Jack didn't want to talk to anyone from the outside after yesterday's horrors, but the hour came whether he wanted it to or not.

His face was like stone as he watched the door.

Despite the events of yesterday Goose still managed to eat his food, he did feel bad about it though and spent most of the time picking at it as he debated on whether or not to eat but eventually he ate the contents that were on his plate.

Goose just sat still from where he was sitting as he quietly waited to see what would happen today.

Jonothon was standing near the entrance come visiting hours today, in case a certain murderer got it into her head that it was a good idea to traipse through the door today.

He was not in a good mood. The way his flames were tousling his hair about and spitting sparks into the air around him was probably testimony to that.

After Raven had fled from detention the day before, she'd wound up getting a fresh Imperio to shore up her fragmented mind. The conflicting guilt/sorrow/rage/defiance was contained again. Still, she felt strangely hesitant about going into detention, but it was her duty. She had to obey. Bruce had to be tended to, his emotions muddled so he could not bring forth enough rage.

"Good morning, Bruce," she said cheerfully, as if she hadn't murdered someone and had a complete meltdown the day before.

Bruce curled up into a ball as if that would protect himself from Raven. "No," he muttered quietly. "No. no. no. no. Not today. Not again."

Hanna skipped dinner last night. Not because of her paranoia. It was because the events of yesterday made her lose her appetite. So she made sure to eat breakfast this morning.

Jamie was... strangely alert today. He was even staring at his breakfast as though it was palatable.

"Marie."

And almost coherent.

Jamie sat and stared at Bobby with a sad look on his face.

"Marie?"

Jonothon wasn't speaking, today. In fact, he wasn't really doing much of anything at all.

He was sitting in silence, still as the grave, eyes narrowed toward the door that the loyalist visitors entered through. Occasionally, he'd blink. That was the only indication he gave that he wasn't just a dead man burning.

He might acknowledge you if you approach him. But he wasn't going to be actively seeking out company, today.

No. No. This was Sookie and she was with him and nobody, nobody would take her from him ever again. Gently, Bobby brushed a few strands of hair from her entirely too still face.

Hanna warily eyed the entrance, nervous about who might visit today. She was quiet, hoping to go unnoticed for awhile.

Jamie blinked a few times and then walked away with a puzzled expression on his face.

"Ocelots."

Which of course made no sense.

"You know there is no choice," Raven said tonelessly. "Do not make this any harder on yourself."

She crouched down beside him, touching the fingers of one hand to his head. "Today I shall give you...indifference," she said. "You will feel nothing. You will care about nothing." A random decision or a statement on herself? Could be either.

It wasn't so much a forcing of an emotion on him this day. It was eating every little spark of passion, good or bad, in his soul. He had so much rage in him, but she wouldn't let him ignite it.

A certain murder did traipse through the door. The Imperio spell was freshly replaced, stabilizing her mind and making her go about her daily duty of tending to Bruce.

She wasn't sparing Jono a second glance as she came in, however.

And that suited Jonothon just fine.

He was going to watch her like a hawk, today. And if she started pushing beyond the limits that she usually set, he was fully prepared to intervene, consequences be damned.
