Detention, Depths of the Castle, Friday

So, one of the important things to realize about detention was that the monotony of everyone's daily lives was part of the punishment. That meant that even though someone had died yesterday, the day's schedule didn't change a bit.

After all, most of your little lives just weren't that important in the grand scheme of things.

After Raven had fled from detention the day before, she'd wound up getting a fresh Imperio to shore up her fragmented mind. The conflicting guilt/sorrow/rage/defiance was contained again. Still, she felt strangely hesitant about going into detention, but it was her duty. She had to obey. Bruce had to be tended to, his emotions muddled so he could not bring forth enough rage.

"Good morning, Bruce," she said cheerfully, as if she hadn't murdered someone and had a complete meltdown the day before.

Bruce curled up into a ball as if that would protect himself from Raven. "No," he muttered quietly. "No. no. no. no. Not today. Not again."

"You know there is no choice," Raven said tonelessly. "Do not make this any harder on yourself."

She crouched down beside him, touching the fingers of one hand to his head. "Today I shall give you...indifference," she said. "You will feel nothing. You will care about nothing." A random decision or a statement on herself? Could be either.

It wasn't so much a forcing of an emotion on him this day. It was eating every little spark of passion, good or bad, in his soul. He had so much rage in him, but she wouldn't let him ignite it.

Unfortunately Raven's prescence igniting something else entirely.

A memory.

"What did you do to Marie?!" Jamie screamed as he rushed toward Raven. "What did you do to her?!"

Sorry, Raven. Doppelganger issues.

With a surge of annoyance at being interrupted, only half done with sealing away Bruce's emotions, Raven rose to her feet to glare at Jamie. Though she had to admit, the insanity radiating off him was intriguing. Not her work, but tasty nonetheless.

"I do not know who Marie is," she said coldly.

"Marie!" Jamie screamed and pointed over in the corner where Bobby was protecting a certain body. "Marie! Marie! Marie! Ocelots!"

Raven glanced over at Bobby, the same indifference she'd been calling up in Bruce on her face. "You should be pleased he is preventing her body from rotting," she said.

"You are annoying me. Go away."

That was the story of Jamie's life, really.

Jamie let out one more incoherent scream at Raven before dropping to the floor in a stupor.

And stayed that way.

Raven gave him a disgusted look, nudging him out of her way with one foot as she stalked away.

However, he'd distracted her enough that she'd left Bruce's attitude adjustment half-finished. Ooops.
