Detention, Depths of the Castle, Friday
So, one of the important things to realize about detention was that the monotony of everyone's daily lives was part of the punishment. That meant that even though someone had died yesterday, the day's schedule didn't change a bit.
After all, most of your little lives just weren't that important in the grand scheme of things.

On a psychic thread, unsure whether Zoe would hear it or not, Karla begged, *I'm here for the Resistance, I have a message! If you can hear this, give me a sign!* And below it was a pounding, pulsing beat of I'm sorry, so sorry, Mother Night, so sorry.
Facing Imperio had been nothing compared to this.

The bragging tone would hopefully cover up the part where she explained to Zoe exactly what she'd done to Sam in hopes that Zoe could start to fix it.
On the psychic link, however, there was immediate relief. *Tomorrow. There's an attack coming tomorrow by the Resistance. We're going to let you out of here.*

Could they really pull something like that off? Could everyone be prepared to escape in just one day? Some old fashioned faith was definitely going to be required here.

She flicked her eyes over to Sam, struggling to keep her grief and regret off her face. "But I'll be kindly today and leave him alone. Sudden shocks need time to heal and set in, after all."
Fluttering her lashes, she added, "Kiss kiss."
