Library [09/26]

There was music in the library today. It wasn't the same, loud, pervasive music that Jonothon normally opted to, however. Today it was almost like a whisper of music. Like a hundred little voices all joining together in song.

... Or, more accurately, the rustling of the pages of every book on the subject of music in the entire library, all rising up in glorious, but quiet, harmony.

They'd just finished Sound of Silence, and were moving on with Scarborough Fair when Jono came in, levelled that aisle with a look, and then shook his head and set to work shelving things. Occasionally, things that were singing at him.

Ah, Fandom.

[Open! And listening to Simon and Garfunkel.]

~Sail on, silver girl... sail on by....~

Scully was resolutely ignoring the books... well, up until the point where she tried to interrogate one about "why Simon and Garfunkel?" and just got Sounds of Silence in return.

Sighhhh. Then she was back studying her Russian, and humming along, very softly, very off-key.

"Studying?" Rosalind enquired abruptly, leaning against the back of the chair.

Hellos were... not for her today, apparently.

William had several books on wolves and werewolves, and was now looking through the newspaper archives for any sort of evidence of previous wolf (or alleged wolf) attacks in the Baltimore area.

"breaking my heart ... shaking my confidence daily," Henry sang softly as he came into the library, then cocked his head. "Morning," he said, wandering over to the coffeemaker. "So. Singing books today?"

Watch, he'd sound casual about that. Or try.

Raven had two reasons to come to the library today -- personal and "professional." But the personal was much more pleasing. "Good morning, Jono," she said cheerfully.

Faramir paused as he entered the library, tilting his head at the strange music which filled the room. He listened for a while, until he spotted Jonothon and was reminded of his purpose here.

"Good day," he greeted and motioned around them. "This is something new."

Scully looked up from her Russian verbs after a bit, and said in a slightly surprised tone (surprised other people were around; she'd been a little absorbed), "Oh, hello, Faramir. It's been a while."

Rosalind arrived... mostly because he'd made an issue of her not showing up but partly because, really, she needed the third of the stupidest book series ever and that meant Jono had to read the second.

"You've got the books slacking off now as well?" she snarked, mildly for her.

John had had no intention of coming to the library.

That is, he'd had none until Sherlock had grabbed his coat and mentioned something about 'an errand', and... well.

John knew which day Jono's shift was. So he'd hitched along, and now he was... here. "Good morning." Playing human shield, apparently.

Because John was the only person who wouldn't attempt to murder him in the everyday life.

...and it helped that he moved all the body parts into the walk in cooler provided by the hotel.

"Botany," Sherlock said, looking past Jono for the moment.

Generally speaking, William Murdoch managed to observe most of the required social niceties. Except, of course, when distracted by some sort of scientific curiousity, in which case all chances of proper hellos and how-do-you-do's went out the window.

"At least," William said, trying desperately to look for some sort of bright side to Fandom being so weird, "the books aren't spending their time being rude to people."

"Jono? I have a couple questions," Scully said when she was taking a break from her studying. One was more of an excuse than a question, but... "If you're not too busy."

When I think back on all the crap I've learned in high school
It's a wonder I can think at all
Though my lack of education hasn't hurt me much
I can read the writings on the walls

Scully gave that book a perturbed look.

Mmmm, Simon and Garfunkel. I feel it may explain a lot about me when I say that my sixth grade year, I pretty much listened to three Simon and Garfunkel albums repeatedly, all year and that was all.
