Library [09/26]
There was music in the library today. It wasn't the same, loud, pervasive music that Jonothon normally opted to, however. Today it was almost like a whisper of music. Like a hundred little voices all joining together in song.
... Or, more accurately, the rustling of the pages of every book on the subject of music in the entire library, all rising up in glorious, but quiet, harmony.
They'd just finished Sound of Silence, and were moving on with Scarborough Fair when Jono came in, levelled that aisle with a look, and then shook his head and set to work shelving things. Occasionally, things that were singing at him.
Ah, Fandom.
[Open! And listening to Simon and Garfunkel.]

And to think, in ten more years, people would probably be looking back, waxing nostalgic about the music of the new millennium.

Jono was not Sherlock's biggest fan, damn it.
//You keep thinking that you'll get used to the shock of it,// he added, wandering back to talking about being even so slightly time-tossed, //but you never really do. It's like culture shock. You might accept it after a while, but in the end... it's really not where you belong.//
When. Whichever.
Re: Talk to Jono!
"And no, it isn't. I've resisted, looking up what I might do, or where I might be in 2010, using the internet." Schrodinger's cat could stay a cloud of electrons from Scully's point of view. "I have to go back and live it; and anything I looked up-- how would I even know if it was true? It's bad enough that I'll be expecting the Red Sox to win the World Series. Especially if they don't."

And yet...
//What was that, luv? You got a little quiet, there near the end...//
Yes. He was a brat. Why?
Re: Talk to Jono!
"Do you know where there are books. With." Siiiigh. So embarrassing to even look for this, even though it was long past time. "Information on alleviating. Spells."

The suspect fled the jurisdiction. Put out an APB.
Re: Talk to Jono!
Genie? Really?
//If... you don't mind my saying so, luv, if this has an element of th'supernatural in it, beyond herbs and chemicals mixed together to look flashy, you might almost have better luck asking at th'magic shop in town.// A pause, and then he shrugged a bit. //For what it's worth, I understand completely, just how difficult it is to get yer head around th'seemingly impossible, even when it's staring you in th'face.//
He got to stare it down every time he looked in the mirror, after all.
Re: Talk to Jono!
Her shoulders slumped a little, and she let out a Scully-sized sigh. "Thanks. I've been resisting the idea that magic caused what happened for so long, but somehow, over the last five months, I've -- had to accept it." Her mouth turned down in glumness. "I should go by there anyway, I need to talk to Dru, maybe she'll know how to help." She studied Jono, biting her lip, wanting to ask how he did deal with... whatever happened to him. Without sharing her predicament, it would be beyond rude, though.
Re: Talk to Jono!
He didn't deal. Some days, he woke up, and he couldn't breathe, and he had to work to remind himself that he was even alive. That there were things to wake up for. Other days, he simply started by going through the motions.
He wasn't okay with this. He was occasionally used to it. But that didn't make it okay.
//If there's somebody there that you trust, somebody who already has some idea as to how to deal with th'supernatural like... whatever curse yer djinnayah cast, then yes, I suggest you talk to her. At least get the opinion that you need from somebody who has more experience on th'subject matter, in whatever form, than some books on th'shelves. Half of those things are written by new-age wannabes who wouldn't know magic if it bit them in th'arse. And... trying and failing is sometimes far worse than not trying at all.//
He knew that one, too.
Re: Talk to Jono!
She was now giving the books an untrusting look of betrayal. First they sang, now they were going to mislead her? Unfair, books. When had she ever let you down?
"That's the last thing I'd want." She might end up five years old, or worse. "Okay. Thank you, Jono." She looked thoughtful. "I appreciate the help."
