Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2014, Early Saturday Evening [Part 1]

Right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, the ceremony for graduation was ready to go. The lawn of the school had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths for everyone to get to the seating area, and even in the fading sunlight, the graduates and their guests could likely see the beautiful job that the school's new gardening company had done getting plots of flowers and garden decorations set up around the stage. It might have been a long, cold winter, but there were no signs left of that tonight.

Of course, the pretty landscaping wasn't keeping the staff off of high alert, but hopefully the guests wouldn't notice as they were welcomed in.

Congratulations, Class of 2014! You made it! Now you just had to get through the ceremony. Maybe it would be quick and only slightly boring?

Natalie wasn't going to boggle. She'd done enough of that already over the last couple of days, and there was very little about these ceremonies that could surprise her anymore.

So she sat quietly, looking very sharp and professional, and thought about how much could change in a year.

Isabelle was here, of course, looking around curiously and maybe scanning the crowd for a familiar face or two.

This was definitely going to be weird.

Really, just being at a high school graduation was weird to Nico, who had long since given up on the idea of ever graduating herself. And knowing Gert – or a version of her – was going to be graduating too... Yeah. This was going to be weird.

But, they were here for Karolina. (And Jim.) The weirdness was just extra.

Anne and Gilbert, looking decidedly out of place in their 1916 fashions, glanced around with barely concealed wonder.

"Those flowers," Anne said, grasping her hands together in delight. "They're beautiful."

Well, Flick didn't have anything else to do today so might as well come out and watch the seniors graduate. Maybe there'd be free food later or maybe someone would fall and he'd have something to laugh at.

He took a seat on the aisle so he could stretch his legs out and crossed his arms, looking oh so welcoming except not really.

It had been a surprise to get Jim's positive reply to her request to come to his graduation and it was an even bigger surprise to be here right now after only hear about it vaguely from her son for so long.

She took a seat near the back and looked around. Everything seemed normal enough, almost like home. She wondered how Jim liked living somewhere smaller in size and things to do than even Iowa.

Oh, if only she knew.

Riley hadn't ever been to a Fandom graduation before so he figured his attendance was just about required. Plus, it gave him a break from editing his book and that was definitely needed.

Will wasn't graduating and he didn't think he knew anyone really well in the senior class but he'd come out anyway. It seemed like a cool event to witness and he wasn't busy with anything else so why not?

Ben sat down a row back from Bantha and looked for familiar faces in the crowd. Graduation was a mini-reunion most years.

Sam didn't tend to come back for graduation ceremonies anymore but Haley had told him he was moping and kicked him out of his own house and ordered to go.

So, he was there. And he couldn't help glancing around and reading different auras and picking out the different colors he was seeing. Fandom was also diverse, wasn't it?

Yeah, Sparkle was here to watch this. He'd waffled about coming to watch, you know, people he kinda liked getting a little piece of paper saying that they were okay to leave the island, and all. But in the end, how could he refuse?

He was just going to scowl at everything the whole time. So there.

Jonothon was here, of course. Some of his favourite students were graduating today, after all. He was sitting near the back, though. At least a few of the students were likely to have fairly 'normal' guests today, and he didn't want to draw more attention to himself than was strictly necessary.

At least, he supposed, he wasn't blue for this.

Scott had been here before so he wasn't doing much boggling. And anything Fandom had Beacon Hills could top in ways of horror, so. He was all good.

And he was looking ridiculously upbeat and happy to be there. But that was Scott for you.

It had been, what, a year since Jace had been back in Fandom? Two? Five? Whatever, it didn't matter. The point was he was back now. To watch some boring ceremony where guys wore dresses for some reason.

Emma wasn't really much for events without a buffet, but there were people she knew graduating, so she figured that she should probably at least make an appearance.

This was Adelle's first time at a high school graduation, but her reason for attending wasn't exactly to watch the ceremony. She could care less about who tripped over their own feet and who didn't look good in a blue robe.

She took a seat in the back, crossed her legs, and examined the program she'd been handed.

And lo, there was Pomp and Circumstance. It was time for the soon-to-be-graduates to make the last adjustments to their blue and gold robes, and get to walking to their seats.

Once the speeches were over, Principal Winchester came back up to the podium, and called each graduate's name to give them their diploma.
