Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2014, Early Saturday Evening [Part 1]

Right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, the ceremony for graduation was ready to go. The lawn of the school had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths for everyone to get to the seating area, and even in the fading sunlight, the graduates and their guests could likely see the beautiful job that the school's new gardening company had done getting plots of flowers and garden decorations set up around the stage. It might have been a long, cold winter, but there were no signs left of that tonight.

Of course, the pretty landscaping wasn't keeping the staff off of high alert, but hopefully the guests wouldn't notice as they were welcomed in.

Congratulations, Class of 2014! You made it! Now you just had to get through the ceremony. Maybe it would be quick and only slightly boring?

Yeah, Sparkle was here to watch this. He'd waffled about coming to watch, you know, people he kinda liked getting a little piece of paper saying that they were okay to leave the island, and all. But in the end, how could he refuse?

He was just going to scowl at everything the whole time. So there.

"Vodka," Sparkle countered, gesturing to a flask-shaped bulge in his pocket. "I'm all set for this already."

He came bearing the essentials, truly.

"Niiice," Kenzi said, kicking her heels and grinning. "This is going to blow up my Youtube account, once I get the video up."

"I think I need to start myself one of those. Pretty sure some of the crap that goes on around here would make me internet famous for, like, I dunno... special effects or something. Maybe I'll film the pony throwing a party or something."

Because, really, that was absolutely a sight to behold.

"Do iiiit," Kenzi encouraged him. "I got a vid of Seifer's demony friend and got the most comments ever. Although part of that was from me screaming in shock, gotta admit... Hey, you got one year to go, right?"

"Yeah, a year before fuck-only-knows-what," Sparkle agreed. "People keep talking about all the other worlds I can run off to when I graduate, but I'm thinking, hey, Toronto might be a shithole, but it's my shithole. Anyway, Lewis is probably going to want me to go back after I graduate, to see if I've made any... forward progress. He's all about the progress, you know?"

If anything, Sparkle was pretty sure he was backsliding. Sure, he hadn't committed arson or attacked someone in the streets while drunk or even broken into anyone's home lately, but he was pretty sure he was losing his tenuous grasp on sanity, hanging around here.

"At least you can get a job in fast food there?" Kenzi paused. "Or, you know, say screw it, and just hang out somewhere and do art attacks. Although, if that doesn't work out, mi casa es tu casa, dude. As long as you don't mind the cat or Bo's parade of playmates."

"Oh no, cats. It's like I don't love cats or something." Sparkle shrugged. "And I'm pretty good at ignoring, you know, playmates. I work in a sex shop, I mean. You know. When I show up. I don't actually know who my boss is anymore, but I still get paid for the shifts I do, so..."

He shrugged.

"Yay?"

"Yay. And you got a year to figure it out. And that is, officially? The last time I'm gonna ask. I know I wanted to shank someone by the end of last year when I graduated, they kept asking me that." Kenzi adjusted her sunglasses and smiled. "We got a pretty day, we got popcorn, we got booze, we got imminent violence. We're good."
