All of Jughead's possessions fit inside a single backpack.

He didn't mind it. At least it was crammed as full as it could be crammed, that was good enough for him. And if he could keep people from figuring out that was the case, even better. This was supposed to be a break from –– everything. Riverdale and all associated drama.

Still, when he arrived in the lounge and checked his phone, he found himself wondering whether Archie even remembered he was moving today.

Whatever.

He dropped his backpack on the floor and leaned against the wall. Good. This seemed like a decent spot to stand in while eyeing everyone else warily.

Magnus probably warranted being eyed warily as he appeared in a flash of white light, holding a flaming sword with a giant scorpion stinger on the tip of it.

In all, it was a pretty cool way to arrive.

So. Yeah.

"...am I in a fantasy airport?"

Remove 'fantasy' and he was rollin' some suspiciously high perception checks.

Yeah, okay. That was an entrance that got Jughead to give up on being antisocial for a second. He was now too busy trying to understand what the falsh of light had been. A way over-powered cellphone flash?

He was also trying to understand the sword.

It seemed to be on fire.

"... I'm gonna go with 'no'," he decided. "I think this is just Baltimore."

Annnnnd that's why the 'never escalate a battle' rule existed, because if it had been up to Jason, "dude with a flaming sword who appeared in a flash of light" would definitely have been interpreted as bad news. Except then sword guy didn't actually, well. Do anything remotely threatening.

"Dunno... is that any different from a regular airport?"

In her experience, people didn't show up with flaming swords, oh, ever.

"I don't do well on written tests!" Magnus replied automatically a little panicked over the thought.

That dude had a flaming sword. Sure, he appeared in a flash of light, too, but Summer was used to that sort of thing. Now a flaming sword, on the other hand...

She was trying to lay low, but, come on. How could you not quirk a brow at that at least a little?

That flaming sword also had an over-sized scorpion stinger on the tip. This is what happens when you allow an 8 year old design weapons for D&D.

Magnus looked a little awkward at that. "Cool. Cool, cool, cool," he muttered to himself. "Is that a no?"

Optional moodiness, you say? Well. Jason was going to be taking advantage of that option, thank you very much.

Right after he managed to get this bag of Skittles open. Which was... a more complicated process than it might seem, at first glance, judging by the fact that this was the third such attempt he was making.

Hopefully this time it wouldn't end in candy exploding everywhere thanks to a bit too much force applied. Stupid super strength.

He did spare a nod and a grunt of something that might have been hello... ish, to the kid with the hat, though.

Ah, good. The masculine nod-grunt of acknowledgement. Jughead could work with that, with a nod of his own right back at the guy.

With a vaguely puzzled, passing look at the trouble with the Skittles.

Because. Trouble with Skittles.

Jason was just going to gingerly tear that package open. Slowly.

He breathed a sigh of relief when it actually worked, this time. Airport candy wasn't cheap, you know.

"Breakfast of champions," he said with a bit of a smirk.

June noticed two things about Jason: first, that he seemed to have more than the usual amount of trouble opening candy. It was like he was getting used to having hands or something.

And second, that he wasn't exactly hard to look at.

She smiled at him. "Need help with those?" she asked, indicating the Skittles.

Well, the hands themselves weren't new. The amount of force he could accidentally exert if he wasn't careful... well, that was still fairly new.

"I think I've got it," he said, holding it out in her direction to show her how he had, indeed, conquered the mighty Skittles bag. "But thanks. Want some?" he offered.

Summer did not want to be here. Summer really did not want to be here, but she had at least realized she should be smart about her whole situation and access it before making any really dumb moves. So it was off to (what she thought was) brainwashing camp for her, whoop de doo. At least she spotted a vending machine in the hallway that accepted regular money for payment and included food that wasn't pills. So she stocked up on a bunch of chips and candybars in the seat next to her while she texted her commiserations to her friends back home and told them that if they didn't hear from her in two weeks to send help or presume her dead. They'd probably do the latter, since it wasn't like any of them knew what to do to help.

Texting and nibbling was precisely all she intended to do until the shuttle got there to cart her away from where she couldn't cause any trouble, but then she realized that, hey, the other people here had to be in similar situation to her, so maybe it wouldn't hurt to stop texting for five seconds to subtly (okay, maybe not so subtly) suss out potential troublemaking allies.

You know, a few months ago, Jason would have been all over that 'potential troublemaking'? Now, though, he was just gonna glance up from his own group chat and offer Summer a smile and a little wave.

For the briefest, barest of seconds, Summer narrowed her eyes at the guy across the way. Her time as a galactic fugitive had really jacked up her perception and trust, and being sent here really wasn't helping things. But then three very important things registered just as quickly: 10 these people could potentially help her out, 2) did she really want to go into this thing being known as a mega bitch? and 3) he was kind of cute. So she smiled and gave a sheepish little wave back.

June noticed that not-so-subtle sussing out and raised an eyebrow at the girl with the enormous pile of junk food.

"Hi," she said, and waited.

"Uh, hi," said Summer, and she almost waited, too, if not for her little internal monologue.

Don't be the bitch, Summer.

"I'm Summer," she added, holding up a bag. "Want a Twizzler?"

It was real food. Well, kind of. It wasn't food in pill form, so this was a really big deal for her, ohmygod.

Moodiness was definitely on the agenda for Jyn. She was still pissed at Saw for sending her away to this backwater planet. Her place was with him, fighting the Empire. She didn't buy the whole "for her own safety" excuse.

She dropped the pack filled with her meager possessions and flung herself into a seat to wait, absently lifting one hand to rub the crystal of her mother's necklace. She was a survivor. She'd survive...somehow.

The dark-haired girl standing near Jyn glanced over at her with cool curiosity.

"I hope they don't make us wait much longer," she remarked. "It's such a waste of time."

Please. Being moody was for stupid teenagers. June Iparis always had more important things on her mind.

So she was ... maybe a touch annoyed that Metias had decided to send her away to high school. (She'd pointed out she had finished that when she was 12. He said this was a different kind of high school. What kind of sense did that make? Being around people her own age had never done June any good, and she didn't see why they would be any better outside Los Angeles.)

With a sigh, she leaned back against the wall to watch the other students arrive. Nobody was wearing Republic uniforms; that alone was a big change, and one that had her slightly uneasy. People who weren't military were so unpredictable.
