All of Jughead's possessions fit inside a single backpack.

He didn't mind it. At least it was crammed as full as it could be crammed, that was good enough for him. And if he could keep people from figuring out that was the case, even better. This was supposed to be a break from –– everything. Riverdale and all associated drama.

Still, when he arrived in the lounge and checked his phone, he found himself wondering whether Archie even remembered he was moving today.

Whatever.

He dropped his backpack on the floor and leaned against the wall. Good. This seemed like a decent spot to stand in while eyeing everyone else warily.

"I snuck a cow into a high school locker room and crashed my truck running from the cops," Jason said. "... Then I missed a check in with my parole officer. So. Like you said. Typical teenage rebellion," he leaned back in his seat, waiting to gauge her reaction.

As soon, as she said what she had, Summer instantly regretted it, feeling that she would be known as the weird prison girl if she kept it up, but, thankfully, his excuse swept that away pretty damn quickly. Her brows lifted, surprised and amused all in one.

"Well, that beats the pants out of mine," she admitted. "I'm Summer, by the way."

Lucky for Summer, he'd assumed the 'galactic prison' comment was hyperbole intended for comedic effect. Because most of Angel Grove was somehow convinced that the giant alien monster had been some sort of mass hallucination, so he hadn't met too many people who seriously believed in aliens and the like. "Nice to meet you, Summer. I'm Jason."

And that's what she was hoping for, but one could never be too careful in these new social situations. If people here were going to be cool, she'd like to at least be a little popular here.

"Nice to meet you, too," she said. "So where are you on the spectrum between totally bummed out about this whole thing and super stoked to the point where I should just give you your wedgie now?"

"Ehhhh," Jason made a so-so motion with the non-Skittles-holding hand. "All my friends are back home having fun without me and I'm being shipped off to some place where they probably do like, bedroom inspections to make sure our sheets have hospital corners. On the other hand, no more ankle monitor, so... I guess I'm kinda breaking even?" he shrugged.

Ankle monitor? Oof. This guy was out of Summer's league in a multitude of ways, it seemed.

"Ugh, gross. I hope not. I mean, things aren't perfect back home, but I'm going to miss my friends, too. But at least, um, hey, I can make new friends here, I guess?"

There was a little bit of desperate hopefulness in her voice there, but it was mostly just a lack of certainty.

"Sure, if you don't mind being friends with 'weirdos and criminals'," he did not make airquotes with his fingers, but they were audible in his voice.

Jason, your friends back home were arguably also 'weirdos and criminals'. Don't dismiss Fandom out of hand just because nobody there fell into an underwater cave holding a 65 million year old spaceship with you.

A part of her did have a problem with it, she had to admit. But, at the same time, she realized she was also a weirdo and a criminal, and her Grampa Rick was defnitely a weirdo and a criminal, so she had come to view being a weirdo and a criminal as maybe not so bad after all.

Summer shrugged. "You take what you can get, I guess." But it wasn't said with an ounce of malice, and perhaps a little smile at the end. "At least it won't be boring."
