Detention, Saturday, February 25th 2006

Fraser's standing quietly at the front of the classroom, waiting for those with detention to file in and take their seats.

The names are listed on the board.

Xander Harris
Chloe Sullivan
Blair Sandburg
Lily Evans

When everyone is seated, Fraser starts speaking. "I'm sure you all know why you've been called here today. Whether it be for misbehavior, disrespect to a teacher, not going to class or, and sorry Mr. Sandburg, being the winner of a very peculiar lottery, you have all earned detention in one way or another. It's an unfortunate circumstance and one I'm sure you do not wish to repeat. We will begin activities shortly, we will break for lunch, and there will be more activites after lunch. If everything is successful, I will dismiss you in the early evening. Any questions?"

Activity 1: First Aid Skills

"Since we're all here for the wrong reasons, except you Mr. Sandburg, I feel that a exercise in something right will be beneficial. For this activity, we will learn the very basics in first aid skills."

There are small first aid kits (http://www.applevalleyredcross.org/images/Pillow%20First%20Aid%20Kit.jpg), CPR dummies (http://www.sma.org.sg/pics/cpr_dummies.jpg), and first aid instructions (http://www.safeguardsigns.com/images/bio,fs10.gif) laid out on folding tables for each student.

"Please read the instructions and then please practice on the dummy of your choosing."

Blair looked at the CPR dummies and back at Fraser. "Um...if we're here for the right reasons should we do this too?"

Xander actually knows this one. Like, way knows this one. From experiences both lucky and un, not to mention the ghosts of random military training he never actually got, still hanging around his head.

He eyes the dummy, and instead of performing CPR, grabs a first aid kit and starts treating the dummy's throat for 'barbecue-fork' wounds. "Ok, what kind of first aid kit doesn't come with Holy Water?"

Chloe picks a practice dummy and decides that his name will be Clark, because she really can be very easy to amuse sometimes. She starts by tending his "minor cuts and scrapes" and then glances over the CPR instructions.

Activity 2: Canadian National Anthem

"As I'm sure most of you are aware by now, I am from Canada. So, to teach you all a little bit more about myself, I would like you to look the lyrics for O Canada (http://www.pch.gc.ca/progs/cpsc-ccsp/sc-cs/anthem_e.cfm#h2), memorize them and then perform these lyrics for your fellow students and myself."

Blair shrugged and cleared his throat before standing and singing.

Xander stands up, glances uncertainly at Constable Fraser, and asks, "Could I maybe borrow your hat?"

Chloe reads over the lyrics, sadly realizing that her high school level knowledge of French isn't good enough to sing the French lyrics. "Can I borrow your hat when Xander's done?"

Activity 3: The History of the Mountie Uniform

"Due to the unusual interest in my hat and uniform, I thought I'd have you all do a little more research on the history and the meaning of the attire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Canadian_Mounted_Police#History_of_the_uniform) to be presented to your fellow students and myself. And yes, if you'd like to wear my hat, I will let you."

Blair starts looking through the material and glances up at Fraser. "Um, is there something special about your hat? Does it have magic powers? Is that why everyone loves it so much?"

Xander looks speculatively at the Hat, but honestly, most of the time he likes looking at it on it looks better on Fraser.

"You seem to wear the red uniform a lot more than the brown one," he says, trying to come up with something that doesn't sound like he's spent way too many hours online poking around at Mountie-related websites, some of which he even found with SafeSearch turned on. "I thought the red was mostly ceremonial?"

"Even with short-sleeved shirts, the summer uniform still sounds like it's hot." Chloe turns a little red and looks down at the notes about the uniform again. "Er. Hot temperature-wise, that is."

There's an assortment of food on in the classroom, complete with beverages and desert. Eat, drink and talk quietly.

"Diefenbaker's been slightly bored in Fandom due to the lack of snow and the lack of suspects to chase down on a daily basis. I would like you to try and amuse Diefenbaker. He won't bite nor will he attempt to harm you unless you attempt to harm him first."
