Detention, Saturday, February 25th 2006

Fraser's standing quietly at the front of the classroom, waiting for those with detention to file in and take their seats.

The names are listed on the board.

Xander Harris
Chloe Sullivan
Blair Sandburg
Lily Evans

When everyone is seated, Fraser starts speaking. "I'm sure you all know why you've been called here today. Whether it be for misbehavior, disrespect to a teacher, not going to class or, and sorry Mr. Sandburg, being the winner of a very peculiar lottery, you have all earned detention in one way or another. It's an unfortunate circumstance and one I'm sure you do not wish to repeat. We will begin activities shortly, we will break for lunch, and there will be more activites after lunch. If everything is successful, I will dismiss you in the early evening. Any questions?"

"The sunglasses are necessary," Fraser says, "as I accidentally made Mr. Sandburg's dummy have some very frightening eyes."

"With...pen, right?" Xander holds up his inkstained fingers. "I ask only because around here..."

After all, sudden ability to give things eyes isn't that much weirder than, say, sudden ability to change tv channels with your brain.

"With pen, yes," Fraser says. "Blue pen. I made one eye rather large and the other rather small so the poor dummy looks rather unbalanced."

"Sounds like we have mad artistic skillz in common." Xander is not at all secretly and inexplicably encouraged touched by this sign of fallibility on the Mountie's part.

"Pull off the sunglasses," Fraser says. "See my handiwork."

Xander tentatively slides the sunglasses off the dummy - alert for any sign that it actually is a vampire zombie dummy, because you never know - and stares at its eyes.

"They're... very blue?" he offers finally, and glances up to meet eyes that are also-- Whoa. Yeah. But much less lopsided.

Fraser nods and peers at the dummy. "I do not have a future in artistry."

"Me neither," Xander says commiseratively. "I can whittle you a mean stake or put together a set of shelves without it falling down, but that's not really art."
