Detention, Saturday, February 25th 2006

Fraser's standing quietly at the front of the classroom, waiting for those with detention to file in and take their seats.

The names are listed on the board.

Xander Harris
Chloe Sullivan
Blair Sandburg
Lily Evans

When everyone is seated, Fraser starts speaking. "I'm sure you all know why you've been called here today. Whether it be for misbehavior, disrespect to a teacher, not going to class or, and sorry Mr. Sandburg, being the winner of a very peculiar lottery, you have all earned detention in one way or another. It's an unfortunate circumstance and one I'm sure you do not wish to repeat. We will begin activities shortly, we will break for lunch, and there will be more activites after lunch. If everything is successful, I will dismiss you in the early evening. Any questions?"

"Of course, Miss Sullivan," Fraser says. "Once Mr. Harris presents, the floor and hat will be yours for the activity."

Having successfully retrieved the hat from Xander, Chloe stands in front of them and clears her throat.

Sure, it's not in French, but it's very much in tune. And, Chloe tells herself, she looks better in the hat than Xander did.

Xander glances at her, a tiny bit more combobulated now. "Well, yeah. No argument there."

"No argument about what?" Chloe asks. Now she knows why Xander kept the hat - it really is very nice.

"That you look better in the hat?" He coughs. "Than me. Not than him. Sorry, the hat coordinates better with his outfit."

This was officially getting too weird, even for Chloe.

"Did you hear me say that?"

Xander peered at her. "Did I hear you say what? That you look better in the hat? Er, yeah? Why else would I have answered you? I'm not psychic." Which was an eensy bit of a lie if he counted the sudden tv-related TK this week, but that was too much potential fun to give away the game on.

"Er, of course not," Chloe answers, starting to get a little nervous about what might be happening. She searches for a way to distract Xander - and pulls the hat off, handing it to him. "Here, you can hold onto this again. You'll probably keep it safer than I will."

"Oh. Um. Thanks!" Xander takes the hat happily enough, though he doesn't put it back on his head. Too bad Blair's already bounced off; he seemed kind of interested in it.
