Detention, Saturday, February 25th 2006

Fraser's standing quietly at the front of the classroom, waiting for those with detention to file in and take their seats.

The names are listed on the board.

When everyone is seated, Fraser starts speaking. "I'm sure you all know why you've been called here today. Whether it be for misbehavior, disrespect to a teacher, not going to class or, and sorry Mr. Sandburg, being the winner of a very peculiar lottery, you have all earned detention in one way or another. It's an unfortunate circumstance and one I'm sure you do not wish to repeat. We will begin activities shortly, we will break for lunch, and there will be more activites after lunch. If everything is successful, I will dismiss you in the early evening. Any questions?"

"He's so cute," Quinn says, sitting down to reach out and pet Dief.

Dief snuggles into her hand and clambers onto her lap. He's shedding and gets hair everywhere.

Quinn is oblivious, because puppies are cute and take her focus for a little bit. "Hi," she says. "Oh, aren't you pretty. Or handsome. You're a boy, right? Handsome."

Dief totally licks her face.

"Aw, you're so fuzzy and cuddly," says Quinn, who has extra makeup in her bag.

Dief, seeing the bag, makes a grab for it to play tug o' war.

"Oh, no, puppy, we don't do that," she says, and tries to pull it away.

Because really, someone like Quinn is not going to have a shoddy bag to hold her makeup in. However, dog slobber is icky.

Dief pulls harder.

"No, puppy," says Quinn, standing up and pulling on the bag, keeping a good hold on the zipper.

Dief thinks this is a game and gets down on his haunches to pull even harder.

"Puppy, I like you, please stop..."

Dief doesn't stop. In fact, he jumps up on Quinn to try and knock her over.

Quinn shrieks a little, backing away. "Nice doggie! Be nice, doggie!"

Dief drops off of Quinn but totally lands on her foot with his paw. And keeps a hold of her bag.

"Ow," says Quinn, but she is not letting go of the bag because it's her makeup!

Dief gives one great, big yank on the bag and throws his weight backwards...

Xander looks over and frowns somewhat jealously at the frolicking, since he hasn't thought of anything to do to amuse Dief yet. "Quinn... why are you here, again?"

"Um, I walked into the boys' bathroom and got caught," she says.

"Why do I find it unlikely that you'd ever be caught dead in the boys' bathroom?"

Quinn pauses. "Good thing I was caught alive then, huh!"

Xander's eyes narrow. "By who? You're totally not on the detention list."

"By... some guy. I didn't ask his name," says Quinn, looking at him funny.

"That's weird." Xander blinked. "If 'some guy' gave me detention, I'd totally ask hs name."

Quinn points to the Mountie. "I didn't care what the guy's name was, I'm here," she says, like it's the simplest thing ever.

Which was exactly what he'd been getting at, and also... totally fair. Like he wouldn't have tried getting detention on purpose if ~~he'd known the Mountie~~ some hot lady teacher was running it? Hell, looking back, he probably had, at least once.

So Xander only glared a little. On the inside.
