Detention, Saturday, February 25th 2006

Fraser's standing quietly at the front of the classroom, waiting for those with detention to file in and take their seats.

The names are listed on the board.

When everyone is seated, Fraser starts speaking. "I'm sure you all know why you've been called here today. Whether it be for misbehavior, disrespect to a teacher, not going to class or, and sorry Mr. Sandburg, being the winner of a very peculiar lottery, you have all earned detention in one way or another. It's an unfortunate circumstance and one I'm sure you do not wish to repeat. We will begin activities shortly, we will break for lunch, and there will be more activites after lunch. If everything is successful, I will dismiss you in the early evening. Any questions?"

"You're correct," Fraser says, "in that the red uniform is mostly ceremonial. However, since the head of security for Fandom High doesn't have an official uniform, I tend to wear the red uniform to stand out and to let students know that I am the head of security and that I can be approached. I'm approachable enough, right?"

"Oh yeah - very approachable." Xander might grit his teeth a little as he adds, "Pretty much the entire female population of this campus wants to approach you."

"They...do?"

"You...haven't noticed that?"

"I just thought they were very interested in Canadians," Fraser says.

Xander can't help grinning. "That's... one possibility, I guess."

"Should I...not interact with as many students as I do then? Am I giving them the wrong impression?"

No no no no. That would be bad. Wrong turn. Bad conversational gambit! No biscuit!

"What wrong impression?" Xander asked quickly. "That Canadians are interesting? I dont think there's any wrong impression there."

"I don't want anyone to think I'm attempting to gain their attention in anyway but as a friend," Fraser says. "But Canadians are very interesting, actually."

"That's very, um, virtuous of you," Xander answers with perhaps a slight note of glumness to his voice though he certainly wouldn't admit to it if you asked him from the other end of a loaded weapon. "Also, different; the last security officer was dating a student, actually."

"Rover, the large white ball was...dating someone?" Fraser tilts his head and taps his chin. "Is that even physically possible? Also, I don't want you to think I would stop talking to you, Xander. You're an interesting fellow who can sing the Canadian national anthem in several different languages and knows as much about the RCMP as I do."

Xander coughs. "Oh, I kinda doubt tha-- I'm interesting?" He smiles ~~goonishly~~ "Oh. Thanks."

This was really not the color to have worn if he didn't want his face to blend in with his shirt, Xander realizes as he casts about for something to add. "Uh. Yeah. Rover. He was dating Lilly Kane. Who's dead. No, I don't get it either, but apparently they were quite the hot item before he vamoosified without even leaving her a Dear Pretty Corpse letter."

"You're welcome," Fraser says, smiling. "And that has to be the most unusual relationship I have ever heard of. Now, I'm not wanting to be graphic but...how? Just how? And no, I don't expect you to know personally but...it's very odd."

Xander is...very much a someone broken.

Constable Fraser just asked him a question about sex. Ok, corpse/floatyball sex, but... but...

"Um... I...." He might actually need to invest in a redder shirt, because now it's looking paler than him, he suspects.

"I have no idea? I never heard her complaining about it, though, so whatever he was doing, it must've been right." Xander adds after a second, "I never got the full story on that, but I think there were lava lamps involved?"

Now Fraser is imagining lava lamps and balls (the white kind and not in the flesh way but the latex way) and he almost has to hit his own head to get rid of that image.

"That was...not the best question to ask, was it?"

Xander nods, a bit shaken. As it appears Fraser is as well. They both seem to be shaken.

"In the history of questions, it does kinda rank up there with 'what happens if I push this button?' and 'Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?'"

Fraser shakes his head and laughs a little shakily. "I'm sorry if I've made you uncomfortable, Xander," he says and clasps a hand on his shoulder. "That wasn't fair of me to ask."

"Well, only as far as I managed to go this long without thinking about how they managed that, and now I'm not sure I can stop trying to figure it out..." Xander rubs at his hair, then shakes his head.

"It might drive you to insanity," Fraser says and then stops and holds up a finger. "It might drive us both to insanity."

Xander stares at his ~~WHOA HI ARM CHEATER~~ finger. "It might be a shorter trip for some of us."

Fraser laughs ~~and totally cheats again~~. "You underestimate the depth of my insanity already. Snow monsters, vampires, zombies CPR dummies, and, did you know there is a sentient room in the library?"

Xander nods. "Yup. Been there, crazied that. There was a dragon, even."

"A dragon?" Fraser shakes his head. Again. His neck's getting kind of sore. "That's a new one. What were you doing in the sentient room that involved a dragon?"

"Getting lost, mostly," Xander answers with utter smoothness.

Except for where he turns the color of a pomegranite.

"You look flushed, Xander." Fraser looks around the room. "Are you ill or is it too hot in here?"
