Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Okay, admittedly, having a picnic at the beginning of January wasn't the best idea the school had ever come up with. Thankfully, the weather was sort of agreeable today - it wasn't too chilly, the sun was out, and there were still pretty pockets of unmelted snow on the lawn.

In the middle of the lawn, a bonfire had been set up for warmth and light--mostly the warmth--and the tables and chairs had been set out to mostly be in the sun. There was a long table with a variety of moddable warm foods, and there was the usual table of nametags and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything set up, it was time to welcome the new folks!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Atton had only limited usage of his left arm, including the hand, but he had the kolto patches tucked underneath the sleeve of his jacket. Nobody was going to notice but the people who knew how, and that had the bonus effect of letting him know who knew how.

Anyway, he had a glass of juice in his right hand and he was eyeing the crowd.

Obi-Wan had been on Tatooine for several weeks now; he had, as such, missed a great deal.

He was merrily oblivious - and coated in a thin layer of sand - of any crises that may have occured, and looking rather calm and collected with his hands tucked in his sleeves.

With a semester of teaching under her belt by now, Tahiri seemed much more at ease than she had at the fall picnic. She'd taken a quick trip home to check in, then returned in her X-Wing -- she couldn't be sure if her Sekotan fighter would do well this far away from the planet, being a living ship and all, and didn't care to risk it for that reason. Said X-Wing was now parked back in its old spot at the junkyard, her few necessary possessions were back in her room at the Arms, and Tahiri was standing near a tree, occasionally nibbling something from the plate of snacks in her hand while she looked over the picnic area.

Electroclash (in full superhero uniform, because it was tradition) was standing with a drink in hand, looking... mildly approachable? Something like that.

She'd looked grumpier at these things before, okay.

This guy, right?

Just showing up on the island in full Boomerang gear, ready to mingle, meet people, and scope things out. He needed to know if anyone knew him at all because of the whole alternate reality thing going on, and if so, whether they thought he was a D-word, a different D-word, a C-word, a MF-word, a BAMF-phrase, or just a cool guy. It paid to figure these things out before you got too far into things.

Honestly, he was betting on something between nothing and second D.

There were a limited number of new teachers, so Hannibal fortunately didn't have to do much searching for his new "buddy". He raised an eyebrow at the outfit, but after all, his own introductory teacher had been Batman.

"Fred Myers?" He held out his hand. "Doctor Hannibal Lecter. I'm to help you get acclimated to the island."

Tony had planned on swinging by the school's picnic for reasons that had to do with the strange amount of alternate reality versions of people he knew being around.

But he didn't know this guy. Maybe because he didn't pay attention to D-list villains, but whatever. He paused and tilted his head, considering the outfit.

Didi actually was excited to be there --but she was usually excited to be anywhere. She nibbled from a plate of fruit as she watched the crowd, curious as to what she'd learn about them in the coming months.

Kitty had two fewer jobs these days, so she was back to teaching and trying to get some sense of normalcy and routine back. She was actually pretty glad to be here, aside from the whole picnic in January thing. At least she looked cute bundled up.

Laura's first instinct was to accuse Kitty of being here under Storm's orders to follow her and bring her back. A second later she realized how they could've sent anyone else to bring her back, and by the third second she was sure the girl was here on her own businesses.

Which left her... staring, basically. She knew a good deal of things about her, but that didn't mean she knew her, something that Laura had slowly learned over time.

Staring would have to do for now.

"I vote we up an' move to the nearest desert planet," Hardison grumbled at Kitty. "If we stay out here much longer, I'mma start lookin' for an alot to turn into a sleepin' bag just to stay warm."

Ignore his whining, Kitty. He was from Chicago, he could handle a little cold. He just refused to do so gracefully.

Eliot had been planning to take a break this semester. But then he'd gotten news from the school that he'd been sighed up to teach a travel class with the pony.

Because apparently he just didn't get to have any control over his own life ever again.

He definitely didn't have any control over his personal space. Not when he had a boyfriend doing his best limpet impression while attempting to burrow under every layer that Eliot had. Not that he was wearing enough. Hardison supposed he should just be lucky that Eliot hadn't paired his windbreaker with shorts and sandals or something equally ridiculous.

"It's freezin' out here," he grumbled. Pathetically. Mixing the two was a special gift he possessed. "Why we even out here? We should be indoors an' not chancin' hypothermia."

Hannibal was wearing a lovely three-piece suit and tie and a wool overcoat and...yes, was likely the best-dressed person here.

He had his own coffee to drink (and an extra carafe, in case of Eliot or anyone else who might truly appreciate the stuff) and some gourmet sandwiches in his bag, and was mostly people-watching.

Bob waited just long enough with Constantine to be sure his skull was being treated with due care, then headed out to look at the new people. He (obviously) didn't care about the food or drink, but he also didn't have to care about the cold, so there was that, at least.

Zoe was genuinely happy to be here, and to see new folks wandering around. She even had a pleasant look on her face so she'd come off as approachable. It really was people's lucky day.

It was still weird to be on the teacher side of things instead of the student side, but Sam couldn't complain, mostly because he got a giant plate of food either way. He'd stop eating if anyone actually wanted to talk though.

You'd better believe Hardison was bundled up and standing next to the fire. And also trying to physically burrow into his boyfriend's side. He might be used to the cold, but that didn't mean he had to like it. Why didn't they just program the Danger Shop to look like the outside and hold it in there? Where is was warm and certain handsome hackers wouldn't have to worry about freezing to death?
