Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Okay, admittedly, having a picnic at the beginning of January wasn't the best idea the school had ever come up with. Thankfully, the weather was sort of agreeable today - it wasn't too chilly, the sun was out, and there were still pretty pockets of unmelted snow on the lawn.

In the middle of the lawn, a bonfire had been set up for warmth and light--mostly the warmth--and the tables and chairs had been set out to mostly be in the sun. There was a long table with a variety of moddable warm foods, and there was the usual table of nametags and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything set up, it was time to welcome the new folks!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"I am." Hannibal nodded, shaking his hand. "And that's good to know." He gestured at Fred's outfit. "I take it you're from a world with various heroes and such?" Or where they just dressed really oddly.

"It's either that or I'm the weirdest fetishist ever," Fred said. "And I'm pretty sure boomerang fetishes aren't a thing.... And if there are, women who have it should really be swiping right, you know?"

Hannibal had only the vaguest idea what "swiping right" meant, but he could extrapolate.

He chuckled. "I'm certain that somebody somewhere does, given the vast amounts of people in the many worlds, but I'm not aware of anybody personally. So you're already acquainted with people having various powers, I take it. What are your feelings on alien species, magic, and the like?"

"Lame, but whatever," Fred said. "I can live with it."

Hannibal raised an eyebrow, but nodded. "You are in a better position than many, then. Most worlds seem to have one or the other, but few have all of them."

He eyed Fred. "What are some of the more prominent heroes in your world?" He wondered if he shared a version of the world with any of the others here.

Don't say Spider-Man. No way could he say Spider-Man and sound anything but sarcastic. "Spider-Man." GODDAMMIT. "Iron Man." ALMOST AS BAD. "Luke Cage and Iron Fist." ... HE PULLED THAT ONE OFF. "You know, all those guys."

Hannibal nodded; he remembered hearing those names in passing around Westchester, anyway. He wasn't yet going to mention that, though.

"You don't seem on very good terms with them," he noted, amusement and sympathy in his voice.
