Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Okay, admittedly, having a picnic at the beginning of January wasn't the best idea the school had ever come up with. Thankfully, the weather was sort of agreeable today - it wasn't too chilly, the sun was out, and there were still pretty pockets of unmelted snow on the lawn.

In the middle of the lawn, a bonfire had been set up for warmth and light--mostly the warmth--and the tables and chairs had been set out to mostly be in the sun. There was a long table with a variety of ~~moddable~~ warm foods, and there was the usual table of nametags and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything set up, it was time to welcome the new folks!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Pinkie danced excitedly in place. "I bet we will!" she agreed. "I love making new friends! You know, I teach friendship here at the school."

"No fooling?" Fred asked. He was laying it on a bit thick at this point, but he didn't think that would stop Pinkie at all. "I'm pretty good at friendship, but I don't think I'm good enough to teach a class on it. You must be really good at it."

Not even a little.

"Oh yeah, my friends back home and I have saved the world with friendship. Several times."

Did she sound braggy? Because she was absolutely bragging.

"I saved the world once with friendship and time travel," Fred said. And it was the only heroic thing he had ever done in his life. "It was pretty awesome."

"Isn't it fun?!" Pinkie enthused. "Did your friendship shoot rainbows that turned the bad guy into stone, too?"

"Pretty much," Fred said. Centurius stabbing some guy with a sword was basically the same thing, right? "Only instead of rainbows, I threw boomerangs." And knocked out Clint Barton's brother with them.

"Ooo, hence your name!" Pinkie appreciated a good descriptive name.

"It's a little on the nose, but I'm not one to complain," Fred straight up lied. "And hey, when you can do this...."

Fred pulled a couple boomerangs off his back and threw them into the air in front of him. After taking somewhat complicated paths, both boomerangs returned to his hands several seconds later. "... you might as well use the name."

"That's so cool! Do it again!"

Pinkie was nothing if not endlessly enthusiastic.

"Okay, but only one more time," Fred said. "I don't want this to be a thing where you're just using me for boomerang tricks, you know?"

Fred threw both boomerangs above himself with curves so that they spiraled up in a double helix before coming back down.

"I promise only to ask on special occasions," Pinkie said, cheering again at the boomerang tricks. "That'll come in super handy next time we get invaded!"

"I'll see what I can do if something happens," Fred said. "I may even have some special boomerangs that will help with that."

A razor sharp boomerang thrown with enough force at exactly the right angle could pretty much decapitate anyone or anything.
