Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
Okay, admittedly, having a picnic at the beginning of January wasn't the best idea the school had ever come up with. Thankfully, the weather was sort of agreeable today - it wasn't too chilly, the sun was out, and there were still pretty pockets of unmelted snow on the lawn.
In the middle of the lawn, a bonfire had been set up for warmth and light--mostly the warmth--and the tables and chairs had been set out to mostly be in the sun. There was a long table with a variety ofmoddable warm foods, and there was the usual table of nametags and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything set up, it was time to welcome the new folks!
[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Which left her... staring, basically. She knew a good deal of things about her, but that didn't mean she knew her, something that Laura had slowly learned over time.
Staring would have to do for now.

She had to check, since it could always be someone who just looked like her.

"Kitty Pryde." She'll drop the last name eventually. "Why are you here?"

Well. That changed things. Laura didn't know exactly what had been going on with Kitty recently, mostly because she had been all too focused on not dying, so it was plausible. Further, she couldn't sense the usual signs of lying.
"I did not know I was coming here either, not until very recently." And she wasn't sure she was going to be around for long, but that wasn't important right then.

Good thing Laura had already suffered through time traveling shenanigans. "Hope Summers has returned to the present. Nothing seems more significant than that at the moment."

"It might still happen, though." It was supposed to be a good thing. "She is supposed to restart the mutant population. Somehow." Don't ask her the details, she was just glad Hope was alive and well.

"Sorry if I'm totally throwing you off here," she said, since she knew how weird the first day here could get.

"It is okay", Laura said. She was good on her feet. "Then it is safe to assume you are not here to bring me back." Double checking, you know.

Gambit though, she won't see that one coming. "I just needed some time away."

Ignore his whining, Kitty. He was from Chicago, he could handle a little cold. He just refused to do so gracefully.

Okay it had mostly been for criminal-related reasons rather than climate ones, but at least he'd been warm while he hacked his way into a fortune.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2016]
Yaaaay winter.
RE: Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2016]
Hardison didn't give a damn about baseball--at least when Eliot wasn't playing--but some things were tradition.
RE: Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2016]
And the next day she got kidnapped to space so she wasn't really worrying about that then.
RE: Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2016]
"Damn right," he said. "Eliot calls hot dogs bland sausages an' Parker don't understand the importance of kosher dogs or celery salt. Kitty, I live with barbarians."

"Why would you wanna fold it?" he demanded. "It ain't a shirt! If you need to origami your food before you eat it, there's a bigger issue at hand is all I'm sayin'."
