Faculty Meeting (Friday after classes)

After the student council cleared out, Zoe got the council room set up for yet another meeting, hoping all the teachers had gotten her handwavey email. Sure, classes had only been in session for a week, but she figured it was a good idea to check the new teachers for shell shock early. There were warm food and drinks set out (not the leftovers from the student council... at least, not totally) but nothing alcoholic. If people wanted to go that route, they would have to bring their own this time.

"Hello there, come on in and have a seat if you'd like," she said. "I thought it might be good for everyone to have a chance to get together without students around, and be inside where it's warm. I hope everyone's had a good first week. If you haven't, well, now you have a room full of people to vent to." It was the little things that helped make this job better.

As with many things, it was curiosity that led Obi-Wan here, and a desire to know who else taught at this school that had so readily accepted Anakin as an ethics professor.

"My first week has been..." Emotionally taxing. "Fine, thank you. I take it you're the principal of this school?"

That was to Zoe, yes; after that conversation, he sat down with a civilized cup of tea and considered the other teachers.

"Yes, for a frightening number of years now," she said. She'd been trying to look Obi-Wan over without staring at him, wondering about this man who was such a big part of Anakin's history. "The first week is generally the hardest, as you discover who has really signed up for your class. But, I believe you're working with an experienced teacher, so you have quite an advantage."

A gathering of other teachers! Another first for Hatter and one that amused him greatly. He snagged himself a drink and took a seat in an open chair, sighing and stretching out his legs.

This place was so quaint and cute. Such a change from Wonderland's greediness and chaotic pace. Hatter found that he liked it somewhat.

"Sooooooo, how'd it go?" Irene asked, neatly folding herself into the chair beside him.

Jono was here, ignoring the food and drinks, and looking... more or less not too disgruntled. Which was an improvement on his usual, so he was going to roll with it.

He needed to talk to... somebody... about a student who wasn't going to be coming back, and probably somebody else about the one who seemed to have a hate-on for anyone with powers, but overall, he was pretty mellow.

He was occasionally making sad eyes at the coffee, though.

Rinoa wandered over to her co-teacher. "So -- do you want to share some of my coffee?" she asked.

They'd only really done that once, as a flirting ritual while not themselves. But that didn't mean he couldn't do it not as a flirting ritual. Some days required coffee.

Hannibal tried not to chuckle at Jono's sad eyes, then raised his own (much better) coffee in a toast and offer.

"Well, I suppose at least I'm not the only one." Bob stood next to Jono and crossed his arms, glowering at the coffee.

Cara was so very fond of the idea of socialising, really she was, but warm food she didn't have to buy or fail at cooking herself was an acceptable trade off.

Jones did not partake of any of the food or drink. Instead she stood against the wall and observed the interactions between various teachers and taking mental notes.

That serious face was like a beacon to Pinkie. She sproinged cheerfully over, letting out little squeaky toy noises whenever she bounced. "Hiya!" she greeted. "You're new!" She finally landed firmly in front of Jones and offered her a hoof. "I'm Pinkie Pie, it's superduperneato to make your acquaintance!"

Irene had a cup of strong black coffee, thank you, and had found herself a chair to curl up in. There was a chip in the polish on her right ring finger's nail, and she was doing her very best not to look at it for the whole meeting, but the desire to leave her gloves on until she could get to a manicurist had been almost overwhelming.

She always looked good, of course, but given her class content this time around, the need to look perfect was a little stronger than usual.

"Ms Adler." Hannibal nodded politely. "How have you been?"

Bo wasn't a teacher, but she figured she counted as faculty enough to snag a chair, a snack, and a chance to scope out the new crop of fellow staff someplace that wasn't outside. (She'd kept an eye on the welcome picnic, sure, but from the cosy warmth of the security office like a sane person, thank you.)

And possibly share the contents of her thermos, which was only mostly hot chocolate, with them. If they were hot nice.

If only the non-chocolate parts of that mix would work for Derek. However, the chocolate part did smell good enough to pull him away from one of the corners to eye it speculatively.

Eliot grabbed a cup of coffee and found himself a corner of the room where he could lean all casual-like and still be able to see who and where everyone else was.

Especially hopefully Parker. She'd made it almost a whole week on the island without stabbing or tasing anyone yet. Either she was having a good time, or someone was about to get hurt.

"Mr. Spencer." Hannibal nodded politely and offered his thermos. "May I interest you in better coffee?"

Pinkie Pie bounced into the room excitedly, then kept bouncing around, waving "hi" to everypony she made eye contact with (and possibly an inanimate object or two) and "ooo"ing at the refreshment table.

Someone should probably make sure she didn't get her hooves on any coffee.

"Hi," Parker said back, watching her closely. In case she was going to walk on the ceiling or do anything else a pink pony might do. Then she was going to demand lessons. "How much coffee have you had?"

If she had just as much, would that make her just as bouncy?

Kitty had coffee, and she was going to get to go have birthday time after this, so she was in a great mood. Also checking out the new teachers because there was a pretty good shot she was gonna try to make friends with them.

Oh yes, Ghanima had brought her own coffee, and was happy to take a seat and watch the proceedings around her with a curious eye.

Anakin was there with a mug of coffee in an opposite corner of the room as Obi-Wan and Zoe, to avoid the temptation of eavesdropping.

A Parker suddenly appeared, on the windowsill. Yes, she'd been there the whole time. Also she had cookies again.

Rinoa was new to teaching. After years of going to school here, she felt a bit like a fraud, sneaking in to the teachers' lounge to overhear gossip.

The coffee helped. Oooo, and donuts!

"I think our class went well," Rinoa offered, in case anybody cared. "I mean, I feel like it did. I hope it did."

"Is this going to be a tradition? Because I could get used to it," Tony replied, taking full advantage of meeting to have more coffee.

He'd probably have some wildly advanced extinguisher to put it out, if they had.

And of course Derek was sticking to the corners of the room. Like the big ol' creeper that he was.

But hey! He was there!

Lurkers of the world hide out in separate corners and stare suspiciously at each other.

At some point in the meeting Eliot made his way over to where Derek was. "Case you're wonderin'," he said, his voice low. "Your uncle did not in fact turn me into a werewolf."

Hannibal was here; it wasn't like it was a far trip from home. He brought his own coffee, as usual, though he was willing to share.

There were people to annoy mingle with, so Bob was naturally going to be here. Not eating or drinking, more's the pity, and trying his best not to bump through anyone, but here.

Eliot noticed the new guy who seemed to be carefully avoiding touching anything with some interest. Radio had mentioned one of the teachers being a ghost.

Just wait until he figured out just which ghost this guy was.
