Faculty Meeting (Friday after classes)

After the student council cleared out, Zoe got the council room set up for yet another meeting, hoping all the teachers had gotten her handwavey email. Sure, classes had only been in session for a week, but she figured it was a good idea to check the new teachers for shell shock early. There were warm food and drinks set out (not the leftovers from the student council... at least, not totally) but nothing alcoholic. If people wanted to go that route, they would have to bring their own this time.

"Hello there, come on in and have a seat if you'd like," she said. "I thought it might be good for everyone to have a chance to get together without students around, and be inside where it's warm. I hope everyone's had a good first week. If you haven't, well, now you have a room full of people to vent to." It was the little things that helped make this job better.

[Open to all staff and OCD free!]

Eliot was being suspicious. It was one of his more endearing traits. Or was that enduring traits?

Either way.

"You're teachin' the magical defense class. I admit, that's one of the few I actually kinda wished I could take."

Bob was used to suspicion. At least Eliot wasn't convinced he'd somehow bring on the ruin of the world. (No, he couldn't touch anything. Yes, the High Council were occasionally idiots.)

"Do they have adult extension classes here?" Bob asked. "I wouldn't mind teaching it."

Eliot shrugged. "There's a community center. I've heard there've been classes there, sometimes."

"Hm." Bob thought about it. "Maybe I'll ask about that, then. The adults don't seem much better prepared than the children."

Eliot gave him a narrow eyed look. "Not all of us came from worlds with magic in 'em."

He was damn well prepared for anything he knew how to prepare for, dammit.

Bob rolled his eyes. "That's my point. How can anyone fight things they've never heard of? You throw all these people from different worlds in one place, sooner or later someone's going to eat the wrong mushroom or piss off the wrong sorcerer. And mushrooms aren't exactly my thing."

Eliot nodded. "I can do mushrooms," he said. "And I can take down pretty much any nationality of mafia you've got." Hell, he could take down whole governments. Easier with his team, but he'd done it alone once or twice. "Something I can't even touch, though?" He shook his head. "Hell, 'cept you, I apparently can't even see 'em."

Seeing was not actually a requirement for him to fight something. Them affecting the world around them in a tangible way he could sense, though, was.

"I'm a bit of a special case." And very good at understatement. "And I'll keep you in mind," he added, chuckling. "I do live - so to speak - in Chicago."

"Yeah? I've spent some time out that way." Hell, his team's first job together had been in Chi-town. ". . . Guessing yours probably ain't the same as mine, though. "
