Announcement and Refugee Hosting in The Gym, Friday Evening

The P.A. crackles to life.

"We shall be opening our doors to the poor, powerless townsfolk. They are to gather in the gym. Volunteers to help organize blankets, bedding, food, and etcetera would be very welcome."

Smith then walks down to the gym, props open the doors, and walks away. This was going to be a mess, and he felt ignoring it would be the best method to deal with it, rather than letting his head explode. Again.

[ooc: Huzzah! Townies can come to this post for their safety and warmth! Screening is disabled! Students and Teachers are welcome to organize something... but as it's an emergency, we hath not actually organized the refugee effort! Organize! Be Swift! But above all, interact and have fun!]

Drop Off

Blair sat under a handwritten sign, folding the blankets that had already been dropped off.

Arriving with an enormous suitcase packed with vacuumm sealed blankets and pillows, she's grateful the Trooper had knocked on the TARDIS door and let them know the situation. He's an npc, sure he did. She'd taken off before Ten could secure the TARDIS, so for now she's here alone.

"Who's in charge, kid? The principal around or something?"

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Blair looked up and stood to help with the suitcase if needed. He looked around and shrugged. "Um...nobody? Is this stuff to drop off?"

Deb and Carl arrived, bearing a sled full of pies, cookies and milk. There's bread, industrial sized jars of peanut butter, crackers and several restaurant sized soup cans. Their own overnight bags and sleeping bags are in there and Deb has looted the Dive for every blanket, pillow or piece of bedding she had in stock.

"Hi kiddo. Anyone going to need this stuff, you think?"

Re: Drop Off

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Blair grinned and bounced. "Yes ma'am! We can put the stuff right here for now until I find out where to send the food. I'm Blair, by the way."

Re: Drop Off

[identity profile] maias-notebook.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Maia came down carrying a set of blankets, two pillows and an electric blanket. "These were my roommates, I figured someone could use them down here. Uh, if someone wants to come up and sleep in my dorm room they can I have an extra bed up there." Maia said smiling then at Blair "How have you been?" She said not having seen him since Pippi's ordeal.

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Blair grinned. "Maia! I've been great, you?"

"That's an excellent idea!" He ripped out a piece of paper from his backpack and handed it to her. "Do you think you could make a list of people who are willing to take in guests tonight?" Blair pointed to the sign above him. "Make a sign or something so students know to come over to you?"

Tommy came in with his gear and the supplies he'd had the Troopers haul in from the town clinic. "Hey, junior, where's emergency response go?"

Re: Drop Off

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Blair sucked in a deep breath and added to the tally in his head. One kid, one kiddo, and now one junior. He stood and looked around. "Like medical help? Or police or what? Alanna is over there (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/570218.html?thread=26741354#t26741354) with Victor from our clinic here at the school. They're both students."

Archie appeared with several blankets, rather rough-looking things in that drab grey-blue military issue style, dragged out of his sea chest. "I'm afraid these aren't the finest or most comfortable blankets in the world, but every bit of warmth will help, I imagine," he told Blair apologetically.

Re: Drop Off

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Blair took the blankets and added them to the pile. "Thanks a load, man. It's awesome that you're willing to donate something!"

Fraser's made it down to the gym wearing his Sam Browne uniform and scanning the room to make sure nothing gets out of control during a situation as extreme as this one.

Re: Drop Off

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Blair waves from over at the drop off point. "Constable Fraser. It's good to see you. Can you believe this, man?"

Sam came downstairs carrying a few blankets, an extra pillow, her mattress, and a few MREs she was happy to get rid of. She saw Blair and dragged everything over to him. "Hi. Where do you want this stuff?"

Re: Drop Off

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey, leave the pillows and blankets here and take the mattress over to Maia, she's coordinating beds for the night. The MRE's...um..." Blair looked over at the food line and grinned. "You can leave them there...but probably they won't get used. There's pie!"

A hugely fat white cat wanders out of the crowd, right into Blair's formerly neatly folded pile of blankets, circles a few times, and settles himself in for a nap.

Re: Drop Off

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Blair stares at the cat and tries to pull some of the blankets out from underneath it so it isn't using all of them.

Having purchased a boatload of supplies (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/577213.html?thread=22738109#t22738109) at the Emporium that afternoon. Pippi comes down with two huge rubbermade totes full of stuff.

"Hey Blair... This stuff was going to be for the dorms in case such a thing happened to us so... Well I guess it's best served down here.

Re: Drop Off

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Pippi!" Blair bounced and pointed towards the wall. "You can pile them for now. I don't think we need them yet, but you never know!"

GOB made it safely to the gym. That's a good thing because there was still magic to perform at Danger Caritas tonight.

It was a bad thing because he didn't have any of his tricks. He was going to have to wing it later. But for now, it was time to get settled in.

Blair gaped in shock. "Magic guy. You're here...at the school." He looked around. "uh...blanket?"

Nadia dropped off the stack of blankets, then turned to Blair. "Hey, do you know if anything is doing anything for the pets and animals in town?"

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Thanks!" Blair thought for a second. "I have no idea if anyone is doing anything. You might check with Mr. Gavin over there in his thread. He's the emergency guy in charge."

Ivanova wandered up, basket of chocolates on her hip and crane floating rather forlornly around her head. "Ve meet again," she says with a grin and a faux-bad-guy accent. "How are you holding up?"

Pip suddenly appeared with a bed roll slung over his shoulder and a couple of pillows. "Hey Blair. Take it you could use some of this stuff?"
