Announcement and Refugee Hosting in The Gym, Friday Evening

The P.A. crackles to life.

"We shall be opening our doors to the poor, powerless townsfolk. They are to gather in the gym. Volunteers to help organize blankets, bedding, food, and etcetera would be very welcome."

Smith then walks down to the gym, props open the doors, and walks away. This was going to be a mess, and he felt ignoring it would be the best method to deal with it, rather than letting his head explode. Again.

[ooc: Huzzah! Townies can come to this post for their safety and warmth! Screening is disabled! Students and Teachers are welcome to organize something... but as it's an emergency, we hath not actually organized the refugee effort! Organize! Be Swift! But above all, interact and have fun!]

Sara heard the announcement while she was in her office.

A few minutes later, she's down at the gym, a bundle of extra blankets in her arms.

"Anyone who starts singing 'Kumbaya' will be used in my next in-class demonstration," she mutters, getting to work.

Blair headed down to the gym, his backpack stuffed full. Hearing Sara's comment he walked over. "No singing, just helping. What can I do?"

Led by a competent Trooper, Agatha and her backpack of dingbots made it safely to the gym. She shivered a bit, and looked around.

[[ooc: i am about to leave for the weekend, but i wanted to get her here and safe/warm.]]

Togusa headed down to the gym to see how he could help out. He brought with him blankets from his bed, and kept his coat on.

"I guess just help distribute items accordingly. I'm going to make a run back to my apartment for non-perishables." She gives Blair a slight smile. "And thanks for your help, Blair."

Tex looked around the gym for a moment. It seemed people were showing up already with blankets but there was no one in charge around. Satisfied, she turned around and headed back into the snow to see how Appo was doing.

Drop Off

Blair sat under a handwritten sign, folding the blankets that had already been dropped off.

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Blair looked around briefly and set his backpack on the floor. Dragging out a piece of paper and a marker, he made a sign (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/570218.html?thread=26699626#t26699626) and taped it to the wall behind him.

Arriving with an enormous suitcase packed with vacuumm sealed blankets and pillows, she's grateful the Trooper had knocked on the TARDIS door and let them know the situation. He's an npc, sure he did. She'd taken off before Ten could secure the TARDIS, so for now she's here alone.

"Who's in charge, kid? The principal around or something?"

Blair looked up and stood to help with the suitcase if needed. He looked around and shrugged. "Um...nobody? Is this stuff to drop off?"

Togusa looked over. "I assume Mr. Smith, but I haven't seen him around. Maybe form groups?" He said to both the professor and Blair.

Deb and Carl arrived, bearing a sled full of pies, cookies and milk. There's bread, industrial sized jars of peanut butter, crackers and several restaurant sized soup cans. Their own overnight bags and sleeping bags are in there and Deb has looted the Dive for every blanket, pillow or piece of bedding she had in stock.

"Hi kiddo. Anyone going to need this stuff, you think?"

Blair nodded. "Groups are good. We need to pass stuff out, make sure people have somewhere to eat and sleep and um...anything else?"

Blair grinned and bounced. "Yes ma'am! We can put the stuff right here for now until I find out where to send the food. I'm Blair, by the way."

"Debbie Novotny. My fiance, Carl Horvath. I run the diner in town." Carl picks up their sleeping bags and pillows and shoulders the overnight bags. "Any of this that's needed, give it out. The pies are fresh and most of the cookies are less than 2 days old. You need any help, Blair?"

Maia came down carrying a set of blankets, two pillows and an electric blanket. "These were my roommates, I figured someone could use them down here. Uh, if someone wants to come up and sleep in my dorm room they can I have an extra bed up there." Maia said smiling then at Blair "How have you been?" She said not having seen him since Pippi's ordeal.

Blair grinned and reached out to shake their hands. "It's a pleasure to meet you both. I'm sure we need help, but at the moment I have no idea what or how. Maybe you could help hand out blankets to the people coming in from town right now, and then if we have more food come in, you could organize that."

Lucas followed the trooper into the school's gym and looked around, wondering why it still seemed so dark.

Right, he was still wearing his helmet. He reached up, pulled it off, and looked around again.

Snowed into a highschool gym with people he'd never met. What a welcome to town. He hoped it wasn't an omen for his business.

Blair grinned. "Maia! I've been great, you?"

"That's an excellent idea!" He ripped out a piece of paper from his backpack and handed it to her. "Do you think you could make a list of people who are willing to take in guests tonight?" Blair pointed to the sign above him. "Make a sign or something so students know to come over to you?"

Togusa thought for a bit. "Manage food and have people do specific jobs. Like food handouts, make sure that there's no conflicts, maybe go around the school and hunt for more supplies? Batteries, flashlights, stuff like that, just in case the generator goes out."

"Great sure thing." She sat a Table up next to Blair and starting working on a sign to let people know to sign up.

SIGN UP FOR EXTRA BEDS

[identity profile] maias-notebook.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Maia made a note and taped it to the wall behind her table:::

HAVE AN EXTRA BED FOR A TOWNIE IN YOUR DORM ROOM? SIGN UP HERE

"Do you want to be in charge of hunting for things?" Blair asked. "maia (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/570218.html?thread=26722666#t26722666) is going to take down names of people who are willing to have a guest in their room."

[identity profile] maias-notebook.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Maia smiled at Lucas "Hi there, Townie?" she said pleasantly. "Do you need anything blankets pillow?"

Victor ran into the gym after hearing the annoucement. Recognizing Blair and Togusa, he came up to them.

"Hey, guys...how can I help?"
