Announcement and Refugee Hosting in The Gym, Friday Evening

The P.A. crackles to life.

"We shall be opening our doors to the poor, powerless townsfolk. They are to gather in the gym. Volunteers to help organize blankets, bedding, food, and etcetera would be very welcome."

Smith then walks down to the gym, props open the doors, and walks away. This was going to be a mess, and he felt ignoring it would be the best method to deal with it, rather than letting his head explode. Again.

[ooc: Huzzah! Townies can come to this post for their safety and warmth! Screening is disabled! Students and Teachers are welcome to organize something... but as it's an emergency, we hath not actually organized the refugee effort! Organize! Be Swift! But above all, interact and have fun!]

Blair frowned. "We were 'making shit happen' before you walked in the door but if you feel like it's necessary to assert your authority here, go for it, man. Everyone's been helpful coming in here, but with an attitude like that, I would be surprised at a few punches getting thrown."

Blair paused and then pointed towards the food line. "I don't know if we've got coffee...but someone brought milk."

Tommy facepalmed. He counted to ten and started over. "What's your name, kid?"

"Blair Sandburg" Blair debated for a moment and then stuck out his hand. He wasn't going to abandon his manners totally.

"Explains a lot," Tommy muttered. He held out his hand and resumed a normal speaking voice, "Tommy Gavin. I'm a fire fighter, I work at the clinic, and all I wanna do is make sure nobody dies tonight. We copacetic so far, Blair?"

Blair's eyebrows raised. Firefighter...like a pig only with a axe.

"It's uh..nice to meet you Mr. Gavin. You work at the clinic? With Dr. Wilson? You think people are going to die?" Blair leaned to side and looked at the doors again. "It's just snow, isn't it?"

"People get cold, people do stupid things with ovens to stay warm, people do stupid things with candles to deal with the blackout," Tommy said. "Plus we're getting a crowd in here and all it takes is one asshole to turn that into a stampede. That's why I wanna make sure that when people come in they know that for food they can go to that table, for medical they can go over there, and for emergencies they know they can come to the emergency guy." He pointed up to himself, on the odd chance Blair couldn't figure that part out. "You already knew about the other tables, now I'm telling you about the emergency guy."

Blair nodded. "I hear that, man. Cold is not my favorite thing either and I can understand that people might do something stupid. I don't know about the whole crowd thing...I think we've got enough good karma to prevent bad things happening, but better safe then sorry."

Blair bounced. "Okay, emergency guy, I'll be sure to send any emergencies over to you and come see you if I need an adult to help out. Does that sound like a plan?"

"Sounds exactly like a plan," Tommy said. "I'll be right over there in that thread if you need me, Sandburg."

"Got it, man."
