Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2010, Saturday Early Evening

The sun had just finished setting as guests started to be let onto the lawn. There were chairs set up for friends and family, separated by an aisle that led to another set of chairs set closer to the stage for the soon-to-be-graduates. The air was still pleasantly warm, and the sky was still almost bright, although extra lights had been set up to make sure everyone could see the festivities. Having learned from previous years, there were no garish decorations or potential weapons in sight - just a simple, tasteful setup for the Class of 2010.

Gwen and Ianto found a pair of seats with a good view of the stage, Gwen with one ear to her mobile.

"Rhys says Jack hasn't shown up at our place, but he'll try and drop by the Hub later in case he's there," she told Ianto. "And to get lots of pictures."

After handwavily catching up with their daughter yesterday Samantha and Greskrendtregk made their way to their seats, making sure that they had seats that would let them have a good view of what was going on.

Ash had a camcorder and sign reading "Congratulations on kicking high school's ass, Jo!".

In deference to the solemnity of the event his mullet was freshly trimmed and his vest was buttoned up.

Graduation might be a load of showy sentimental crap, but Effy did know some people graduating. She'd probably go so far as to call them friends. So she was here, sitting next to the aisle and flicking her lighter on and off while she waited for all this to get started.

Professor Trevor Bruttenholm took his seat as he waited for the ceremony to start, he was definitely proud of Liz and that her powers hadn't stopped her from graduating high school.

Even though she wasn't sure if she'd be able to make Naomi's graduation, Admiral Janeway had managed to get away at the last minute, arriving on the island late Friday evening.

She hadn't seen Naomi before the ceremony though, so she found a seat and waited for the ceremony to start.

It had taken Mitchell rather a lot of arguing with Portalocity about their timing, but he'd managed to get a proper portal in on time regardless.

He did have one or two students he cared to see graduate in this group, after all: he took a quick seat amongst the stands.

Nate might have been too busy with his own important life to bother seeing Chuck on holidays or attempt to call him when he was missing in Thailand for three weeks, but he did manage to make time to see his best friend graduate. That's what counted in life. For sure.

He took a seat near the front and effortlessly looked prettier than, well, just about everybody else on the whole planet. That's right. Gaze upon him and wish you looked as beautiful as Nathaniel Archibald.

Don't hurt yourself fawning.

Jacob found this town utterly fascinating. He was only here for the day (so little time, so many people to touch) and didn't have much time to see everything, but what he had seen was lovely. So many different types of humans living together in relative peace. It made Jacob feel confident that he was doing the right thing. He made a note to come here again when time allowed for it.

He took a seat in the middle and smiled contently to himself as he watched everyone else. For someone who didn't get out much, he sure knew how to look inconspicuous. Jacob would have much preferred to be in the old fashioned clothes he sported on the island, but knew the suit he was wearing was more appropriate considering the event. Standing out wouldn't have served his purpose very well.

Meg was kind of tired from spending the afternoon studying for her own finals, but she still looked happy and cheerful as she took her seat for graduation. She wouldn't miss this for the world.

There was no way that Icheb was going to miss seeing Naomi graduate and so he was there and had taken a seat so that he could watch the ceremony.

Benecio and bodyguard arrived, and Benecio made sure that they got a good enough seat so that he could keep an eye on Savannah and watch her graduate.

Having decided that they approved of the island, John and Julia King took a seat and relaxed easily, just enjoying watching their son graduate. They'd been ribbing on never believing they'd see the day but, honestly, they'd both expected this.

Alex found a spot near the aisle where he could stretch out and get a glance on who was coming and going through the crowd. And where he could cheer like a moron to embarrass his friends.

In almost two years of Joan attending school here, it was the first time Will and Helen Girardi had set foot in Fandom.

They glanced around the island as they took their seats. "There are some... interesting looking people around here," Will remarked.

Phillip was quiet as he and Gwynn's family selected their seats for the ceremony. He was impressed by the way things were set up here, but he was more concerned about Gwynn. Something has been bothering her a great deal last night.

Romeo and Yurika had taken a weekend break from Tokyo to be here, and Romeo fiddled with a new digital camera as he leaned forward in his seat. He had a feeling he'd want to take more than a few photos of his graduating friends -- especially if things got interesting. Though he hoped for all of their sakes that it'd be a harmless form of interesting.

"Did we look as silly in our robes as they do?" he asked no one in particular.

Almost. She wasn't quite comfortable enough to mingle with the other audience members, but she was on the edge of her seat, watching for her brother.

You could say what you wanted about Arthur's willingness to be here, but he gave good Ceremony. With a regal look on his face and a chivalrous extended arm for his stepsister, he was succeeding rather well at his bid to make the toga look more than dignified.

Look, in comparison to Camelot state dinners, in terms of making an appearance, this was a cakewalk.
