Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2010, Saturday Early Evening

The sun had just finished setting as guests started to be let onto the lawn. There were chairs set up for friends and family, separated by an aisle that led to another set of chairs set closer to the stage for the soon-to-be-graduates. The air was still pleasantly warm, and the sky was still almost bright, although extra lights had been set up to make sure everyone could see the festivities. Having learned from previous years, there were no garish decorations or potential weapons in sight - just a simple, tasteful setup for the Class of 2010.

"How can I with everyone wearing the same clothes?" Egwene asked.

Her own dress was a brilliant blue silk slashed with brown and while she didn't have a Daughter-Heir's circlet, she was particularly fond of the seven coloured stole hanging around her shoulders.

She straightened it again as she eyed Elayne. "Are you quite well now after overindulging last night?"

Elayne's lips pursed. "I didn't overindulge," she said haughtily, tacking on a belated, "Mother. I was just unaware of the strength of the drinks in this place. Master Cauthon should have warned us."

Egwene had to cover her lips in amusement at Elayne's argument. "Of course. He should have been aware that you would find your way to the a drinking establishment."

The note of disapproval could have been for Elayne or Mat. Or both.

Elayne's chin lifted. "I was merely trying to understand what he found so fascinating about this island. I am still wondering."

"The girls wearing no clothing and lack of responsibility seems to make that clear," Egwene pointed out, not unaware of the danger signs with Elayne there.

"Some of these dresses would make the Sea Folk blush," Elayne hissed.

"I don't even know if some of them are dresses!" she hissed back. "They're like - little pieces of cloth. It's indecent."

"It is," Elayne agreed, smoothing skirts carefully. "No wonder he was so happy here. How can Rand take advice from such a man?"

"He's always been a troublemaker," Egwene considered. "Maybe Rand hopes - I couldn't even begin to guess. His, ah, Band follows him like he's a Hero of Legend. Not that I've ever seen anything like that out of him."

"Are they causing trouble for you since he's been here?" she asked, lowering her voice.

If Lord Bryne wasn't offering enough assistance, Elayne would be happy to remind him who his Daughter-Heir was.
