Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2010, Saturday Early Evening

The sun had just finished setting as guests started to be let onto the lawn. There were chairs set up for friends and family, separated by an aisle that led to another set of chairs set closer to the stage for the soon-to-be-graduates. The air was still pleasantly warm, and the sky was still almost bright, although extra lights had been set up to make sure everyone could see the festivities. Having learned from previous years, there were no garish decorations or potential weapons in sight - just a simple, tasteful setup for the Class of 2010.

"Really?" Puck's eyes were wide as saucers, as though this was totally impossible. "Now, they don't go to school here, do they? I would've noticed your daughter, I'm sure, if she looks anything like you."

"Yes, I'm sure you would have if she did go here." Serena tended to get a lot of attention.

Lily leaned against her chair and smiled at Puck. "It's been a while since I've had a high schooler hit on me."

"I find that hard to believe," Puck said sincerely, grinning at her. "I'm Noah, by the way. Which one's your stepson?"

"I'm Lily," she said, having no idea why she was encouraging this kid other than boredom. "Charles--Chuck, I should say, Bass is my stepson. Do you know him?"

"Mostly by reputation," he said, and that was true -- one of these days he had to buy weed from Chuck Bass, if the radio was any indication. "You must be so proud!"

"Oh I am," Lily said, even though she knew what kind of reputation Chuck tended to get. "So are you here to see people graduate or are you just trying to find a nice cougar to take back to your dorm room?"

See, that kind of frank attitude was one Puck could appreciate. "I'm not sure why they have to be mutually exclusive."

"That's true," she said. "But I'm sure one has priority over the other."

Puck shrugged, and leaned in a little to admit, "I don't really know that many of the grads."

"Ah. So it is mostly cruising for women," she said, chuckling. "Well you made a very poor choice when you sat down next to me, I'm afraid."

"Did I?" Puck asked, looking sad. "Even if I get rejected, I still feel like I won. I got to sit next to the hottest mom here."

Still trying. Still.

"That's sweet," Lily said. Oh, she missed silly teenage boys sometimes. "I just recently became engaged. If only graduation had been about a week earlier. Then we could have been together."

Riiiiiight.

"I'm very discreet." Please, Puck slept with married ladies all the time back in Lima. Like a diamond was gonna stand in his way.

"I don't think that would be a very good way to start off a marriage," Lily told him.

"It'd be a great way to say goodbye to singlehood," Puck pointed out.

Lily smiled again. "I'm afraid I'll have to pass."

"Ah, well. Thank you for the pleasure of your company," Puck said politely, because he might be able to score later if she was drunk or something, and didn't want to burn that bridge. "Congratulations on your engagement."

"Thank you," Lily said, oddly hoping this is how Chuck reacted when women turned him down. "Good luck with the other women."
