Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff
Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.
And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. That's what the mingling section is for!
[OOC: All right folks, have at it!]

Security/Dealing with Weapons
"Good morning. I'm Principal Washburn, and I'm here to remind you that if you have any weapons with you, you must put them in the weapons locker as soon as possible. As per the rules in your information packet, you are not allowed to carry weapons in the school or keep them in your room. You don't need to be concerned about locking them away; all of your belongings will remain completely safe in the locker. Thank you."

She pulled out a small double-bladed axe and placed it on the table, then asked, "How do you feel about stakes? Weapons or not? They could be tent pegs, you know."

"Of course I'm not carrying anything, ma'am," he said. "But I appreciate your concern for the safety of all students."

Give up my sword?!
She stopped in front of the table and looked slightly confused. "M'lady," she started, then shook her head. She had told Froderick she would try to give this strange new place a chance.
She flipped her cloak back and unbuckled her sword, laying it down on the table. Then she also placed two daggers with the sword. She reluctantly swung her quiver of arrows off of her back and placed them on the table as well. When she was holding her bow, she looked at the lady in charge with some trepidation.
"M'lady... must I turn over the bow, as well? It is useless as a weapon without the arrows."
She was clutching the bow so tightly that her knuckles had turned white. "It was my mother's..."

And thinking he has tricked the principal with the ol' "exploding twinkie" joke he runs off laughing.

"Ah, Principal? I have... a ceremonial dagger." He pulled out the cloisonne his grandfather had given him before making this trip. "Any chance I can keep it? It's got... sentimental value."

Surely Principal Washburn couldn't mean any of that, right? How on earth would she even know about it?
Of course this didn't keep Willow from having a guilty look on her face as she tried to sidle by.

First off what kind of school officially expects their students to bring weapons? That sort of deniability was the sort of thing Dean counted on.
Second, all his weapons? What if he ran into a poltergiest or a werewolf or something? What was he supposed to do, throw his school books at it?
He gave the teacher his version of his brother's puppy eyed look. "Can't I keep one knife?" he pleaded.

"My whole body is a weapon," he says. "Unless you're planning on ripping off my limbs, I'm going to have to live in that locker."
Of course, inside his head, Joxer is flailing like a flailing thing that flails.

Shiro pulled his cap further down on his head, smooshing his cat ears agianst his scalp. Now all he was really able to hear was the sound of blood slogging around. Fainly he heard the woman saying something about weapons.
Weapons?
Shiro ducked his head down and attempted to slink by unnoticed.

Looking wide-eyed and nervous, he just moved away from the weapons table with his confusing packet of new-student papers, and kept his deathgrip on his sitar.

...Yes, it would have been locked away. But at least, if Konoka had allowed her to bring her sword, she's have something to be locked away.
