Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff

Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.

And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. That's what the mingling section is for!

Peter Pevensie approached the Principal with Ainsley on his arm.

"Excuse me, ma'am? I think there might have been a mixup with the room assignments. This lady Ainsley and I have been placed together. That can't be correct."

Zoe looked back and forth between the two of them. "Do the two of you already have a problem with each other?" she asked.

"No, Madam Principal! In fact, it's quite the opposite." He glanced at Ainsley hoping she'd jump in though she's temporarily AFK to save him from looking churlish. Not being saved, he continued "I'm just not sure a mistake was not made putting Lady Ainsley and myself in a room together. Seeing as we're...welll..." He gestured between them as if that explained everything.

"Related?" Zoe said, hazarding a guess, before the proverbial lightbulb went off. "Oh! No, I don't think there's been a mistake. The rooming process is completely co-ed and fairly random, which means that we do have some pairs of male and female roommates." She smiled softly. "I think it sounds strange as well, but the school board's theory is that it isn't terribly different from having boys and girls on the same hall in the dorms."

Ainsley returned from dinner blinked again. "Well, I suppose not." She thought about it for a minute.

Ainsley turned to Peter.

"Do you have a problem with fuzzy pink bathrobes?"

"With...err...what?" Visions of Ainsley in any state of undress raced through his mind as he tried to think of something else to say. "No, of course not, my Lady."

He turned to the Principal with slight panic in his eyes. "If you say so, Madam, then certainly it shall be so. as long as I don't have to explain it to my sisters"

"If you two find that you really can't get along, then you can come to the office and arrange for a room change. But we encourage everyone to give their arrangement at least a few weeks, because it could work out better than you think it will."

Ainsley looked at Peter with narrowed, calculating eyes. The wheels were obviously turning.

"No, ma'am. It's not that we don't get along, just a little culture shock, I think." She smiled suddenly.

"But I think it'll all work out in the end. Thank you for your time, Principal Washburn."

And with that, Ainsley bounced off to collect her things and move into her room.

Peter watched Ainsley bounce off with almost a terrified expression and then turned back to the Principal.

"Thank you for your time, m'Lady." He said with a bow.
