Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff

Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.

And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. That's what the mingling section is for!

Dean stared open mouthed at the principal. No weapons?

First off what kind of school officially expects their students to bring weapons? That sort of deniability was the sort of thing Dean counted on.

Second, all his weapons? What if he ran into a poltergiest or a werewolf or something? What was he supposed to do, throw his school books at it?

He gave the teacher his version of his brother's puppy eyed look. "Can't I keep one knife?" he pleaded.

Luckily, Zoe had grown to be immune to even the sweetest of puppy eyed looks. "All weapons need to go into the locker. You won't need them here," she said reassuringly. "If you ever do, they will be made available to you."

Dean tried the look one more time but it was obvious it wasn't going to work.

Sighing, he opened his duffle bag and started pulling out all the weapons.

He looked up. "Holy water too?"

Zoe thought for a few moments. "Can that be used to hurt anyone? Or is it for purification purposes?"

Lie, Dean told himself.

"Strictly purifying," he said earnestly. "I'm big on the being pure."

"Oh yes, you're just vibrating with an aura of purity," Zoe deadpanned, pushing the holy water back towards him nonetheless. "Keep it."

Dean grinned at her. "Thanks!" He put the holy water back in the duffle and decided not to mention the bag of zippo lighters or the container of lighter fluid that were buried at the bottom. That would take far too much explaining.
