Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2013, Early Saturday Evening [Part 1]

The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn of the school had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff could hardly remember the last time graduation had been a serene experience and so their smiles were genuine but their eyes were alert to anything that could go wrong. The folding chairs had been cleaned of any of last year's drop bear residue and when the scene was perfect, the guests were welcomed in.

Congratulations, Class of 2013! All you have left to do is get through the ceremony. No problem, right?

Ben, armed with an airhorn (for Karla) and a really obnoxious "GO TONY" sign, found a seat close to the front of the audience section.

Ender had no airhorn nor any sign. He looked dignified and only slightly like he wanted to facepalm really hard as he sat down next to Ben. But he was here.

On the upside, Kaidan had made it back to Fandom in time for graduation.

On the downside, his arm was in a sling and his face looked slightly bruised.

He was rolling with it, though, sitting down near the back, high up enough to keep an eye on things.

Peter had actually deigned to leave his room for this one. He was currently sitting somewhere near the middle with a phone in his hand, furiously texting.

Liara was likely the strangest-looking one of the bunch. She looked vaguely self-conscious as she sat down, her hands folded in her lap.

Yeul took a seat near the front so that she could watch the proceedings clearly and waited, smiling as she looked around.

Karina was here mostly because she was a) on the island anyway and b) it seemed rude not to when her fake-sibling was graduating. Granted, she didn't really know her fake-sibling but that wasn't really the point, right?

And Karla was graduating too, which meant she was losing the Footmot to her Headwiga.

Karina spent a few moments conceding that she was sadder about that than her fake-sibling. Was it supposed to be that way? Oh well, who cared? She didn't.

She took a seat near the back and kept herself busy reading by the Hero TV forums on her phone until things got started.

Sam had some friends graduating (and some more than friends graduating) so he ended up on the island for said graduation.

He took a seat on the aisle and stretched his legs out while he waited for the ceremony to start.

Topher had told Kenzi he'd attend, so he was here.

Though he was playing Angry Birds on his phone and had his headphones on, despite sitting fairly close to the front of the audience, so... he might have been doing graduation wrong.

Bruce arrived and found a good seat in the back. It was strange to think that only a year had passed in Fandom since he graduated. So many things had changed. He was a completely different person now. He'd seen the promise of a normal life present itself and then crumble. He finished his training. He became a myth. A legend. The boogeyman that criminals were starting to talk about, even after only a few weeks.

All that in a Fandom year. This would be his last trip to Fandom. His work was vital, especially in these early stages. But there were some people he wanted to support on their special day, and he wanted to pay tribute to a place that provided him some stability in a time of need.

But he was still taking that seat in back.

Wesley knew a few of the graduates quite well, so yes, he was here to support them, despite having been in very minimal contact with Fandom over the last... oh. It had been a year now, hadn't it?

He took a seat towards the back and hoped that whatever the graduates had to fight would be relatively easy to defeat.

Bod liked attending graduation ceremonies even if he knew less and less of the graduates. It was still nice to come back and enjoy the festivities.

He found himself a seat and glanced around at the crowd.

Zayne got in late last night and made himself at home in MCA#10. There was a reason why he kept that room aside.

But now that he was rested and dressed for the occasion, Zayne made his way out to the graduation ceremony and settled in to see what kind of insanity happened this time.

Stiles didn't really have a reason to be at graduation other than boredom but, hey, he was friends with a couple of the graduates and had made out with one of them so it's not like he had no business being here.

Besides it'd make him less nervous about next year if he watched the procession now.

Jim wasn't graduating but that didn't stop him from dragging his ass out of bed early to go see those who were graduating.

Hey, maybe he could embarrass a few people or maybe there'd be some good looking relatives of graduates to chat up. It was a win either way.

Sia found a seat, not entirely sure what she should be expecting here. She'd heard vague things about graduation, but wasn't sure how true it was.

And then she remembered that it was Fandom, and that the vague things were probably downplaying it.

Oh, Rebecca was way past staring. She'd arrived early to check everything out in the hopes that there'd be at least some details to give out to the press about the twins' graduation.

There might be. But honestly, she was expecting a disaster. While dealing with various small crises back home in New York over emails on her phone.

Percy was ready to just get this thing done. He wanted to get his diploma and try and make sure his mother didn't kill him for keeping the Luke thing a secret.

Speeches!

Just before the speeches began a man dressed in a UPS uniform scuttled up to the front of the stage carrying several large cardboard boxes labeled ACME.

The shipping receipt was small and smudged, but people with sharp eyes might be able to just make out the name "C. Toymaker" on it.

But that can't be important! Speeches! Speeches were important!

Once the speeches were over, Principal Winchester came back up to the podium, and called each graduate's name to give them their diploma.
