Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2013, Early Saturday Evening [Part 1]

The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn of the school had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff could hardly remember the last time graduation had been a serene experience and so their smiles were genuine but their eyes were alert to anything that could go wrong. The folding chairs had been cleaned of any of last year's drop bear residue and when the scene was perfect, the guests were welcomed in.

Congratulations, Class of 2013! All you have left to do is get through the ceremony. No problem, right?

"No," Ender said, "That would have been worse."

"Peter," Ender supplied. "I'm not sure I want to come back for that, though. If he's even still here by then. Oh, and-- Cassidy, I think."

"Maybe Anakin?" Ben added, looking a little worried.

"And Topher," Ender confirmed. He glanced towards Ben. "Don't let what could happen put you off today."

Ben reached out and squeezed his hand quickly. "Okay."

Ender squeezed his hand back and gave him a quick peck on the mouth. "C'mon," he said, "It's a happy day."

"I'm very grateful about that," Ender said dryly. "And a little worried about what's going to happen next time you guys go out drinking."

"We're getting better! I'm pretty sure we didn't buy a bar or a zoo anywhere," Ben replied.

"You burned off an eyebrow," Ender pointed out. "Pretty sure you guys haven't done bodily harm since the groin thing."

Ben was a freaking genius sometimes.
