Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2013, Early Saturday Evening [Part 1]

The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn of the school had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff could hardly remember the last time graduation had been a serene experience and so their smiles were genuine but their eyes were alert to anything that could go wrong. The folding chairs had been cleaned of any of last year's drop bear residue and when the scene was perfect, the guests were welcomed in.

Congratulations, Class of 2013! All you have left to do is get through the ceremony. No problem, right?

"Good! Done with my finals." Dinah climbed over the seats to join him, grinning. "So are you prepared in that you brought a camera-phone, or prepared in that you have a bunch of weapons under your seat?"

Jack smiled at her again, close-lipped. "Ah, I can't give away all my secrets," he said. "I might shock someone's perfectly nice grandparents."

"Fair enough," Dinah conceded. "How's teaching going? And did you get hit with any of the weird from last weekend, or should I not ask?"

"I like teaching," Jack answered. "Didn't plan on it, but I enjoy it and it seems to keep me busy. And last weekend was fine. More interesting than embarrassing or horrifying, I'm afraid."

He glanced over. "I heard something about you and Warren?"

Dinah groaned. "Yes, you heard right. Yes, it's a little weird. But we hugged it out afterward. We were both so not ourselves. It doesn't even feel like my memory. That's... not usually something that happens to me. If you encounter a woman who looks like me on one of these weekends and she says her name is Tamsin, run."
