Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2013, Early Saturday Evening [Part 1]

The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn of the school had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff could hardly remember the last time graduation had been a serene experience and so their smiles were genuine but their eyes were alert to anything that could go wrong. The folding chairs had been cleaned of any of last year's drop bear residue and when the scene was perfect, the guests were welcomed in.

Congratulations, Class of 2013! All you have left to do is get through the ceremony. No problem, right?

Natalie was... Natalie, about getting her diploma. Graceful and understated. If she smiled, it wasn't obvious to anyone looking at her from afar.

But, no one had expected her to jump up and down with glee, had they?

Peter gave her a dignified applause in exchange. And look, now that she'd come and gone, he could...

... answer this email, then go.

But first there was that applauding part.

Sam applauded when Natalie's name was called. He didn't stand up or whoop or cheer or holler but he was proud of her for all their issues. She'd worked hard for it all and she deserved his (and everyone's) recognition.

Cade looked up and toasted her with his flask, class act that he was.

Jono didn't do any cheering when Natalie went up to get her diploma, no. He imagined, for her of all people, it would probably be somewhat inappropriate. He did stand, however, to applaud. And he looked up at the stage with a proud smile on his face as he clapped politely.

"Stand and deliver, luv," he murmured. "Stand and deliver."
