Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 2)

Were you all enjoying your graduation, children? Ingvar certainly hoped you were. It was so much fun, after all! Though... it could be a little more fun, couldn't it? It felt as if something was missing somehow. Something to really make it... fun.

Ingvar knew what it was.

And so, while the graduates were still on and around the stage, the earth began to rumble. Large black clouds of smoke pushed out of Ingvar's volcano and into the air, obscuring the sky and the moon. Soon, the air was covered in a thick black blanket of darkness.

The tune of the rumbling shifted.

Around the stage, clear protective walls sprung up. This was not Fandom's first tango on graduation day, thank you. She knew how to take care of what was hers.

Unfortunately, Ingvar knew its mother well. Moments later, it began to rain: a thick downpour of familiar plastic poppets in varying levels of creepiness, but also nice, brown, fluffy ...red-eyed, sharp-clawed teddy bears. And leading the charge, teeth-first--

"DROP BEARS!"

When it became clear that the thick black clouds were not going to subside, it was time to let the graduates rest. They'd fought well, but this was clearly something a mother would have to deal with herself.

One last rumble shook the ground, starting beneath the lawn and building across the island and into the water until it ended at Ingvar with a sharp crack. As quickly as the blanket of darkness had formed, it disappated into the air, ending the rain of toys and clearing up the sky. The walls around the graduates dropped, and everything went back to how it had been when the ceremony ended.

Well, except for the bits of dolls and bears scattered around, but that was for the clean-up crew to handle.

Across the way, the volcano settled, but the lava on the island simmered and bubbled petulantly. Ingvar had only been trying to help! Wasn't Hot Topic still cool?

And finally things were quiet and Miley poked her head out of her hiding place. "Is that it?" she called. "Are we done?"

Because look, she'd gotten hit in the shin by a freaking bear. She was not taking any chances.

"We're done," K-Mart said, breathing heavily from exhertion due to fighting. "I think, anyway."

Way to be reassuring, K.

"That was predictable," Ender muttered, dropping the staff he'd taken up as a precaution.

A little relieved. Maybe. Mostly because he preferred not killing anything, and was in fact already shooting the casualties concerned looks.

Ben walked over (after he'd put his lightsaber away) and smiled at him. "We're done, kreetle."

Well, it'd been easier than that damn philosophy exam that Jake still didn't understand how he'd passed it. The broken off baseball bat was tossed to the side and Jake was going to pretend he couldn't find his gown again.

The skies had cleared, and Claudia had taken just long enough to blow entirely unnecessarily on her Tesla and tuck it away before going right back into happy dance mode.

"Ohmigoshwedidit!" she squeed at the nearest fellow graduate -- then noticed who that graduate was. "Jake! Hi!"

Dolls and assorted bears gone, Warren tucked his sticks away and couldn't help but grin a little. And then the grin grew.

Having to work for it kind of made graduating seem all the more official. He figured nobody would blame him if he threw his mortarboard in the air, spread his wings, and cheered. That was just what people did at these things, right?

"So, how long would you like to bask in your glory here," Lucivar asked with a smirk, "before I begin critiquing your performance?"

"Warren! Warren!" Any and all plans of how he was going to approach his son cautiously and get a feel for how their reunion would go was immediately throw out the window as soon as the barrier fell. "Warren, my boy, are you all right? Those...creatures...didn't hurt you, did they?"

And if he wasn't careful, he was totally going to be dragged into the air for a spinny swirl hug of "Congratulations and Happy Birthday!" by a super excited Blossom...

Bruce slid his brass knuckles and grapple back into his utility belt after the tremor ended things. His robed stayed on the whole time, trailing behind him like a badass cape. It was a little frayed now, but still in one piece, so he zipped it back up and looked for his mortarboard. (It had a tracking device so he could find it.)

"Lemonade, Master Bruce?" Why did he have lemonade on hand? Why did marauding bears not throw him off?

He was a damn good butler, that's why.

"Well," Luke said. "That was an interesting ceremony."

No, he didn't realize the invasion wasn't a planned part of the events.

"I have never," Peter said, raising his voice, "seen a ceremony like that before."

Yeah, he'd noticed Luke eyeing them during the diploma ceremony.

Stupid bears. Stupid dolls. Annie had wanted to preserve this graduation robe, and now there was a tear in it.

THIS WAS WHY SHE COULDN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.

But now that it was over, she was dusting herself off, making sure her diploma hadn't been damaged in any way because that was getting framed, and being a little gleeful that she'd managed to graduate.

Valentine, who had never gotten around to actually graduating when she was a student here, just sort of sat there for a second with her head tilted and her eyes narrowed in thought.

Then she sort of sighed, shook her head, and let out a very emphatic, "Well, then."

Somehow, she was not too terribly surprised.

Yeah, Jeremy had been just staring throughout that... whole... thing with the evil bears, what the hell was that all about?

He was still looking a little confused, but he also still had his bouquet for George.

Once the walls were down, Zoe headed towards the graduates to make sure they were all okay. Oh, how she loved this place, but it was also going to be the death of her someday.

Ben's mortarboard had been knocked askew and he'd wreaked havoc on dolls and bears alike, but he was grinning.

That had been kind of fun.

"Can I graduate again?"

Okay, so, it was an interesting adrenaline rush, having to fight off drop bears. She was kind of enjoying the aftermath. So sue her.

But the bat was gross, so she was ditching it. And maybe nobody wanted to hug her because she might be a little splattery.

But here George was. All ... graduated. Yup.

With the wall gone and the dolls and teddy bears destroyed, Khary and Aaron reluctantly dropped their shields and let Karla go. "See?" she muttered, fixing her hair. "I told you nothing bad was going to happen."

Alice had been in the middle of the fight, because she couldn't not fight, but now she was looking around for Jasper and Esme.

After a quick glance around to make sure nobody looked like they were actually hurt, of course.

Raven was almost sad that her docile drop bears had vanished, but she was glad the fight was over and that everyone seemed relatively unscathed.

The fight over and her diploma securely tucked into one boot, Gabrielle readily got rid of her robe and mortarboard. Yes, she had her usual outfit on underneath.

She was flushed and grinning, albeit in a perplexed way. Xena was right, and a good fight did get your juices going, but what was it with her and animals?
