Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 2)

Were you all enjoying your graduation, children? Ingvar certainly hoped you were. It was so much fun, after all! Though... it could be a little more fun, couldn't it? It felt as if something was missing somehow. Something to really make it... fun.

Ingvar knew what it was.

And so, while the graduates were still on and around the stage, the earth began to rumble. Large black clouds of smoke pushed out of Ingvar's volcano and into the air, obscuring the sky and the moon. Soon, the air was covered in a thick black blanket of darkness.

The tune of the rumbling shifted.

Around the stage, clear protective walls sprung up. This was not Fandom's first tango on graduation day, thank you. She knew how to take care of what was hers.

Unfortunately, Ingvar knew its mother well. Moments later, it began to rain: a thick downpour of familiar plastic poppets in varying levels of creepiness, but also nice, brown, fluffy ...red-eyed, sharp-clawed teddy bears. And leading the charge, teeth-first--

"DROP BEARS!"

Okay, that had been, you know, gory. But she'd tossed the baseball bat and she could ditch the cap and gown pretty easily, and hopefully none of the weird stains had made it down to her clothes.

"Hey," she said, wandering out of the clusterfuck. "Are ... those for me?"

No, George. They were for his other semi-girlfriends.

Yes, his other semi-girlfriends who also happened to like their roses black, purple and blue! Clearly.

Or maybe not.

"Yeah, these are for you," Jeremy replied with a little chuckle, holding the flowers out for her. "You kicked some ass up there, you deserve them."

"I didn't ... do so good as other people," she mumbled, blushing. "These are gorgeous."

Kissing was better as a full-contact sport, but full-contact sports were better without ucky robes, so this was going to be the kind of kiss where bodies were nicely separated and her robes weren't oozing onto his suit. She hoped.

"Do you ... um. Do you ... want to meet people or ... not so much?"

Or they could skip that. Really.

Jeremy, being the expert kisser that he was, could totally do a non body contact kiss, no problem. He just didn't like it as much as the regular ones, but he could deal with it.

"I don't really have a preference either way," he admitted, because he was easy like that. "But I, uh, got you something else, too."

"Mason's a druggie, but he's fun, and Rube is ... kind of scary," George said, by way of explanation. "I'm not supposed to be dating so he's ... not going to like that. And you didn't ... have to get me anything. You got me something?"

This did not mean George would turn it down. Quite the contrary.

"Yeah," Jeremy said, like he meant duh. "It's your graduation. You're supposed to get gifts when you graduate, right?"

Plus the Darlings were gift-giving fiends because they had the money. He reached into his pocket, and pulled out a little box that was a very specific shade of blue. Tiffany blue, to be exact.

"Here."

There was a dorky reasoning for this particular choice, too.

Sadly, George wasn't enough of a girly-girl to recognize the robin's-egg of Tiffany blue. Somewhere, Daisy Adair was shrieking, and had no idea why. But George could recognize a jewelry box when she saw one, and that was already making her knees wobble.

When she opened the box, she hadn't been sure what to expect -- possibly some gemstone on a pendant, or as earrings -- and instead, there were mittens on a charm. That was ... so fucking cool. There was something cozy and reassuring about a mittens charm and it was so quirky and neat and kind of her that that made it more romantic than a big fuck-off gemstone would have been.

"Where did you ..." she asked, looking up at him with a smile playing over her lips. There had to be a story to it, she was imagining. She loved it already.

"Tiffany's," Jeremy said with a little shrug and a smile. "Took me forever to settle on anything but then I saw that and I thought, y'know, that I hear it can be kinda cold in Seattle? So..."

The smile broadened and he shrugged again.

"You should have mittens."

See? Dorky.

Okay, someone should apologize to Ferragamo, because one of his suits was going to get ruined, because there was no way she could hear that and not melt. And melting meant she had to be kissing him, and she still hadn't remembered to take the gown with deceased drop-bear off, but that wasn't important, because ...

She just kind of needed to kiss him, right now. She would buy him a new s--- wait, no, she didn't have that kind of money. She would feel really bad about his suit. When she thought about it, later, because -- because she wasn't thinking. The world and all the living and dead people could just fuck off for five seconds here, okay? Please?

Of course they could. And Ferragamo could just deal with it, too. The suit wasn't even from the latest line, and if Jeremy got really desperate, it wasn't like he didn't have the money to see about getting it drycleaned.

No, Jeremy was just fine with pulling her closer and giving her that kiss she seemed to want. He was just fine. He could mourn his suit later.
