Announcement and Refugee Hosting in The Gym, Friday Evening

The P.A. crackles to life.

"We shall be opening our doors to the poor, powerless townsfolk. They are to gather in the gym. Volunteers to help organize blankets, bedding, food, and etcetera would be very welcome."

Smith then walks down to the gym, props open the doors, and walks away. This was going to be a mess, and he felt ignoring it would be the best method to deal with it, rather than letting his head explode. Again.

[ooc: Huzzah! Townies can come to this post for their safety and warmth! Screening is disabled! Students and Teachers are welcome to organize something... but as it's an emergency, we hath not actually organized the refugee effort! Organize! Be Swift! But above all, interact and have fun!]

FDNY, LARGE AND IN CHARGE

Tommy, flabbergasted that there's only kids doing anything to organize, has taken it upon himself to order people around. Unless somebody usurps him, that makes him the grown up in charge for right now.

Need him? Get him here.

Fraser, seeing another adult, walks over to him. He takes off his hat and nods.

"Rather sudden situation, isn't it?" He smiles and holds out his hand. "Benton Fraser, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and head of school security."

"Tommy Gavin," he replied, returning the handshake. "FDNY, and lately of the town clinic. Security, huh? Thank Christ. They've got nothing but kids handling this shit, can you believe that? So how do you want to work this?"

From tone, it's clear Tommy's offering to work with Fraser. Sure on any other day he'd be making fun of the outfit, but in an emergency there was a priority shift.

"Seems the faculty is either stranded elsewhere or are taking refuge from the storm themselves," Fraser remarks. "I believe keeping them calm would be something. While I don't expect panic due to a snow storm, so many people in one confined space can cause tension to rise."

"Yeah, no shit," Tommy said. He studied the area. "Okay, we've got food going, that's good. People'll shut up if they're eating. Any way we can distract the rest who are just going to be whining?"

She walks over like she owns the place, just as the omgcuteguy new security mountie leaves. If the new guy is ok with the mountie, he's ok with her.

"You seem like you know what's going on. I'm CJ."

"Tommy Gavin," he replied. "Who're you around here?"

"I'm the speech teacher and general source of fear for my kids. I'm a pussycat though." She offers her hand as she looks around the gym. "You know if there's any plan, or are we just packing people in and hoping for the best?"

"We're trying to get a flow going," Tommy said. "Oh Canada over there was saying we should get some music going. We should also make sure everybody's got something to eat. People bitch more when they're hungry."

Jarod walked up, hands in pockets. He'd seen the man come in earlier with medical equipment. "Need a hand?

"Always," Tommy said. "What can you do?"

[identity profile] jarodpretends.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
"What do you need?" Jarod asked, seriously.

"Somebody to help with the cat herding," Tommy said. "I want people with real needs in one corner, people with non-urgent needs somewhere far away from me, and everybody else can have food or sign karaoke. God help them."

"Give you a hand? Waiting on a friend here," Togusa says.

"Somebody from town?" Tommy asked.

No, someone here. I'm going out to look for a friend in town afterwards, but I can help out until then."

"Not fit for man nor beast out there, kid," Tommy warned him. "If you've got a friend, better leave the authorities to find him. That way we're not digging out your corpse too."

Pippi stood off to the side a bit with two rubbermaid totes (http://static.flickr.com/24/91967446_0973c1aa15.jpg?v=0) looking at Tommy with her head tilted to the side.

"Hello."

Re: FDNY, LARGE AND IN CHARGE

[identity profile] ladder62.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Whaddya need, kid?" Tommy asked.

Re: FDNY, LARGE AND IN CHARGE

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
"To know what you need." she said shifting the two stacked totes to one hand and putting the other on her hip like the saucy little brat she is.

"I was just gonna parse all this extra emergency stuff I had out to the various stations that seem to be set up but Blair said you were in charge so... Is that okay? ... Sir?" she's not being snarky, or ironic, or disingenuous. She is completely pleasant and smiling... Probably the exact opposite of Tommy.

Re: FDNY, LARGE AND IN CHARGE

[identity profile] ladder62.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
The smiling is creeping him out. But she's a kid and she's perky, so... "Got any games in there?"

Alfred stepped away from his food distribution after making sure that the Baron could handle things for now and walked over to the man who seemed to be in charge. Or at least seemed to be shouting the most. "Hello, I'm apparently the de facto food coordinator. My name is Alfred Pennyworth, are you in charge?"

Re: FDNY, LARGE AND IN CHARGE

[identity profile] ladder62.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey, Al. Yeah. Tommy Gavin." He said. He motioned to the table. "Think you can take control of organizing what folks bring in and making sure it gets to the right people?"

Re: FDNY, LARGE AND IN CHARGE

[identity profile] badassbutler.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Alfred nodded. "Of course. Wonka and Debbie have already set up their own food booths and I have the Baron assisting me. It's just good to get the official approval of those in charge. I"ll see what I can do to help coordinate the other supplies."

Ivanova wanders in the direction that Blair had indicated, and immediately knew who he was talking about. The one who looked like he needed chocolate but would bite her head off if she would ask.

How exactly did she become morale officer, any way? Command a ship, that she was trained for. Command a fleet, that she could and had done, too. Now in a crisis she was handing out sweets. Oh well.

Looking innocent, she subtly detoured around her intended target as she gave him up for 'terminally cranky'.
