Library is Open -- 11/7

The librarian is in an exceedingly good mood today, even if he's currently trundling books that still need to be shelved after the Quickening the freak lightning storm that hit the library a week and a half past. Even more surprising, his mood does not seem to be dependant on caffeine, as there is no mug on the Collections Desk since Janet someone broke it.

Janet comes into the library with her mug of coffee and sets her backpack down behind the Collections Desk.

"Morning!" sings out the librarian cheerfully.

Janet has never, ever seen Methos look so...jubilant.

She looked at him curiously. "Sudden personality change requiring investigation and a possible intervention with Crazy Squid Lady?" she asked. "Or did you have a very good night last night?"

"Last night? Nah. Last night was boring. Ate some leftover Chinese and went to bed early." Methos goes whistling off into the stacks.

*goes to sit at the Collections Desk*

Are you...whistling, Professor?

Janet, it's scary.

"I think he must have had a run in with Crazy Squid Lady," said Janet, drinking her coffee.

He'll be grouchy again soon, won't he?

That'd explain it, yeah.

I hope so. Maybe we should give him coffee? *eyes her own coffee cup* Nah.

Janet nods. "I'm not going down into the basement until we know it was her."

Just bring in a student trying to get into Special Collections without a note and he'll be back to himself in no time.

Janet looked at her coffee mug. "He's not touching my coffee."

Parker walks in, still a little ouchy from yesterday's bout with Aeryn, and says, "Who did? And why are they not dancing around perkily?"

[He looks up. The expression on his face is indescribable.]

"Hi," says Janet. "Is everything all right?"

[Ten eyes Methos' retreating back. Though he speaks to Janet, he watches him, expression continuing to be unreadable.] Uh. Aye. I'm fine, thank you for asking. I'm returning this book. I hope it's not overdue, I seem to keep...being distracted.

Janet suppressed a grin, but mirth sparkled in her eyes. "So, do you know why Professor Pierson's so cheerful this morning?" she asks, trying not to laugh. "Zero and I are thinking he's had a run-in with Crazy Squid Lady. What's your theory?"

Wesley walks in, consults the card catalog, takes notes, and wanders off into the stacks. After a few minutes, he returns to the circulation desk.

"Excuse me. I'm looking for 098.45, A44, but it isn't on the shelf."

"Ah. I do believe we have cataloged that one. It is quite definitely in Special Collections. Unfortunately, you are going to need a release from a teacher detailing exactly what you need it for to have access to it (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh_ooc/159786.html). Is there anything else I can help you with?"

"This is for an independent study; I'm doing a correspondence course to supplement the curriculum here. Would a letter from the Watcher's council the convenors of the course be acceptable?"

"Hmm. Well, I would imagine that would be sufficent. I didn't anticipate anyone but professors here at the school requesting access. I want to make sure they understand the seriousness of the materials we have in Special Collections."

I'm sorry, that book is in Special Collections. Have you reviewed the rules for Special Collections, and do you have a pass?

Parker, having just had a revelation, stares at her like a deer-in-the-headlights. Wasn't she dating the Physics Prof? Eeek.

"Hi, Professor Cregg. Can I help you?"

Geoff wanders in to the library, looking as though it's his first time there (which, in fact, it is). There seems to be something strange about him...which could be explained by the fact that he isn't wearing his ever-present coat.

Methos has returned to tagging books behind the collections desk. "Good afternoon, Professor," he says formally, although is eyes are dancing. "What can I help you with this fine afternoon?"

"Would you believe I'm looking for a book?" Geoff grins and leans on the collections, tilting his head to look at the titles of the books being tagged.
