Library is Open -- 11/7

The librarian is in an exceedingly good mood today, even if he's currently trundling books that still need to be shelved after the Quickening the freak lightning storm that hit the library a week and a half past. Even more surprising, his mood does not seem to be dependant on caffeine, as there is no mug on the Collections Desk since Janet someone broke it.

Janet comes into the library with her mug of coffee and sets her backpack down behind the Collections Desk.

"Morning!" sings out the librarian cheerfully.

Janet has never, ever seen Methos look so...jubilant.

She looked at him curiously. "Sudden personality change requiring investigation and a possible intervention with Crazy Squid Lady?" she asked. "Or did you have a very good night last night?"

"Last night? Nah. Last night was boring. Ate some leftover Chinese and went to bed early." Methos goes whistling off into the stacks.

[The Doctor pushes the door to the library open, eyes upon a paper he'd been marking up. He's holding The Collected Works of Nora Ephron.] Ms Fraiser, I've come to retu--

[He looks up. The expression on his face is indescribable.]

"Hi," says Janet. "Is everything all right?"

"I think he must have had a run in with Crazy Squid Lady," said Janet, drinking her coffee.

He'll be grouchy again soon, won't he?

That'd explain it, yeah.

I hope so. Maybe we should give him coffee? *eyes her own coffee cup* Nah.

[Ten eyes Methos' retreating back. Though he speaks to Janet, he watches him, expression continuing to be unreadable.] Uh. Aye. I'm fine, thank you for asking. I'm returning this book. I hope it's not overdue, I seem to keep...being distracted.

Janet suppressed a grin, but mirth sparkled in her eyes. "So, do you know why Professor Pierson's so cheerful this morning?" she asks, trying not to laugh. "Zero and I are thinking he's had a run-in with Crazy Squid Lady. What's your theory?"

Janet nods. "I'm not going down into the basement until we know it was her."

Just bring in a student trying to get into Special Collections without a note and he'll be back to himself in no time.

Janet looked at her coffee mug. "He's not touching my coffee."

My theory? [The Doctor's gaze moves and he looks straight at Janet. He's not smirking, really, he's not.] You probably don't want to hear it. My theories usually involve alien conspiracies and the like, not things anyone considers practical.

Oh, I wouldn' make you do that. The squid's down there, after all, an' squall knows if it still wants to take you t'prom or whatever.

That would be cruel. But it would mean we kept our coffee. Hmm.

[His smirk widens as he looks at Zero.] Ms Hopeless-Savage, I can assure you that Professor Drusilla isn't an alien. Takes one to know one, believe me. And that definitely wasn't what I was thinking happened to M--Adam.

Methos comes back around from the stacks. He sees the Doctor and his grin increases. "Good morning. What's this about alien conspiracies?"

[Wipe the smirk off his face? Please.] Adam. Morning to you. Your diligent assistants were just speculating as to your good cheer this morning.

[He turns to Janet and Zero.] If you MUST know, Darth Vader came down from the planet Vulcan in order to tell him to take Lorraine to the dance.

Parker walks in, hears this, and laughs. A lot.

"Virtuous life, my... ahem. Good morning, Dr. Pierson."

She's brought coffee. As usual. She's inhaling the steam like an addict.

In a low voice, Parker asks, "Okay. Strange vibes. What did I miss?"

Parker walks in, still a little ouchy from yesterday's bout with Aeryn, and says, "Who did? And why are they not dancing around perkily?"

Dr. Pierson's in an insane good mood without coffee an' he an' the Doctor have been grinnin' at each other like idiots. Janet an' I think the Crazy Squid Lady did it.
