Library is Open -- 11/7

The librarian is in an exceedingly good mood today, even if he's currently trundling books that still need to be shelved after ~~the Quickening~~ the freak lightning storm that hit the library a week and a half past. Even more surprising, his mood does not seem to be dependant on caffeine, as there is no mug on the Collections Desk since ~~Janet~~ someone broke it.

Parker relaxes a little when she realizes Dr. Pierson and his... friend, are not in the immediate line of sight. But she's jittery, still.

"Sure, Professor. If you've got online access, you can do a search with an ethernet card, or, we can look it up here-- if it's not in the usual law section, it could be in Special Collections. I could do a check on the card catalog...."

That would be great, Parker...I'd appreciate the help. I'm going to go get online and see what I can find...If you don't mind, could you bring me the info? I need to get this going, because the state laws aren't helping.

*frowns thoughtfully* I know I saw the books on international law somewhere, but I can't remember where...*possibly because it was in a dream, omg Library get out of my head*

"You grab that, I'll grab the intra-dimensional stuff. Okay?"

Sure. *heads off into the stacks, looking a little dazed*

*returns with an armful of books several minutes later* International law, education. Hopefully some o' these'll be helpful.

Looks like I have my work cut out for me, huh Zero? [She smiles and cracks a the first book open to the index and begins searching.]

*wry grin* Have, um, fun with the research.

"Here you go, Professor. These institutions (http://www.answers.com/topic/list-of-fictional-schools) have different rules from Fandom, and might be able to give you a head-start." She points to one. "I've read good things about the Unseen University. Hopefully this will help."

"Zero has the international stuff here (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/328663.html?thread=15821527#t15821527) and I've found these intra-dimensional references (http://www.answers.com/topic/list-of-fictional-schools). Do you need anything else right now, Professor? Or would you like us to keep an eye out for periodicals?"

I think I'm pretty close to overwhelmed here, Parker. This is enough for now. Thanks so much, both of you.

[She lays the books and papers around her, and begins to read...but then she looks up.]

Is, um, Mr. Pierson here today? [Her tone is cool, but without anger.]

Meep! Parker straightens her spine and smiles prettily. "Yes, Dr. Pierson's here. Do you want me to tell him you're looking for him?" And give him a chance to dive out a window?

Oh, um...if you want to. I'm kind of busy right now, though. [She buries her face in her book, intently reading the alphabetical list of words that are probably English, and tapping her pencil hard on her tablet.]

[Methos at some point disappeared back into the stacks. He's easily fetchable, and will likely reappear momentarily.]

[Finding a reference to a law that isn't in front of her, she gets up and wanders into the stacks looking for the right call number.]

[Methos looks up from shelving books, and sees her.] Good morning, Professor. How are you feeling? [The prosaic words are belied by the smile spliting his face.]

Parker is now blinking at *this*.

Buh?

I'm feeling fine, Dr. Pierson. [She doesn't look at him, but a smile spreads across her lips.] You're cheerful today.

[Affects looking hurt.] I'm always cheerful. Is there anything I can... do for you?

[Is suddenly serious] I'm researching laws so I can convince Bristow to let my girl into school as a full student for credit. So far, nothing I've found has convinced him because our little school here is so...unique.

[She turns to face him] I'm kind of at a loss. I've just about exhausted my options.

Right. This is Shane? What is it about her situation that needs special handling?

Not really anything special, except enrollment is closed for the term, and I'm trying to convince Bristow to let her in now...before the new enrollment. and he's being stubborn...and I'm being tenacious. I want this Ad--Dr. Pierson. I tend to get what I want.

[drops his voice to a murmur] I've noticed. [normal tone] So you want a precident for allowing in a student outside of normal enrollment. Have you or any other professors been tutoring her? You could claim that represents a de facto enrollment, and it would be detrimental to her schooling to deny her credit for her work.

She's been working with Ten, I know she's been working on quantum theory independently. Also, she's auditing Tara's Ethics course, so de facto student may be the way to go. And i think she and Geoff..Professor Chaucer may have talked Literature. they are really good friends. [She looks up and down the stacks and then takes a step toward him and murmurs--] You noticed that, hmm?

[raises one arm to rest on the bookshelf in a deceptively casual gesture that is almost -- but not quite -- an embrace, and whispers back] Rather difficult to miss. I'd have to be exceedingly unobservant. And I rather think I share that trait.

[Her voice barely above a whisper, looking into his eyes.] I know you do. I missed you yesterday.
