Library is Open -- 11/7

The librarian is in an exceedingly good mood today, even if he's currently trundling books that still need to be shelved after ~~the Quickening~~ the freak lightning storm that hit the library a week and a half past. Even more surprising, his mood does not seem to be dependant on caffeine, as there is no mug on the Collections Desk since ~~Janet~~ someone broke it.

"Among civilized people, 'May I' is understood to imply the optative mood. I suppose since you're American..."

"Please, may I have an application, Madam."

"Did I hear a derogative comment based on national origin?" asked Janet? "Or did you want to try again?"

His nostrils flare. "May. I. Have. An. Application. Please." ~~bitch~~

Aren't they just *keen*? To quote one of our professors. And that's what an inference is. Tchah.

Someday, you'll master comedic timing. And we'll all be thrilled for you, yes indeed.

"Madam?" Parker crosses her arms. "Optative, my ass. Among non-rigid un-supercilious people, a little teasing is taken as a test. Which you just failed. Egregiously."

"If this is a sample of their manners, I am delighted to count myself rigid and supercilious."

"Savor that delight. While we consider-- *consider* -- finding you an application. After we get an apology on behalf of Americans everywhere. Even in Europe."

Wesley turns to Prof. Methos. "Sir. Is it generally your custom to allow this behavior from your staff? I was udner the impression that this was the school library, not a den of Furies. I'm asking for a library card, not the bloody Spear of Longinus!"

"Sorry, Mr. Wyndham-Pryce, but they own my soul. Their word is law about here."

Parker gives Dr. Pierson a pleased smile. "I knew there was a benefit to being your minion." Then she turns back to Wesley.

"Apologize, O would-be-Merlin. Or we pull out the blasted heath scenario."

Wesley looks nervous. For all he knows, they are the Three Witches, although they haven't spoken in iambic pentameter yet.

"I apologize for having, in heat, spoken ill of your country. Now may I please have a library application?"

Parker cocks her head, and looks at Zero and Janet. "Nicely spoken. I think we can give him the paperwork. Now. Any objections?"

Janet beams at him. "I adore you. You did know that, right?" She makes a mental note to bring in extra coffee and chocolate tomorrow.

"Did he plan on coming in and insulting the people who process the library card applications?" asked Janet. "Or was it a charming coincidence?"

"If it was planning, he's Sun Tzu. If it wasn't?" Parker's smile shows very white, shiny teeth. "He's screwed."
