Library is Open -- 11/7

The librarian is in an exceedingly good mood today, even if he's currently trundling books that still need to be shelved after the Quickening the freak lightning storm that hit the library a week and a half past. Even more surprising, his mood does not seem to be dependant on caffeine, as there is no mug on the Collections Desk since Janet someone broke it.

"This is for an independent study; I'm doing a correspondence course to supplement the curriculum here. Would a letter from the Watcher's council the convenors of the course be acceptable?"

"Hmm. Well, I would imagine that would be sufficent. I didn't anticipate anyone but professors here at the school requesting access. I want to make sure they understand the seriousness of the materials we have in Special Collections."

Wesley draws himself up to his full height. "The professors at this institution have been handling rare and arcane scholarly materials since..." He trails off, having realized that he's not actually supposed to talk about this "--er, for a very long time."

He pulls a letter from the breast pocket of his blazer. It is handwritten in a neat copperplate hand.

Mr. Wesley Wyndham-Pryce is studying ancient texts under the tutelage of Unseen University Miskatonic University Professor Arthur Pendragon, M. Phil, D. Phil (Oxford). Please grant him all research privileges necessary to completing the course.

Methos reads the letter, and, because he's in an unusually good mood, winces in sympathy as he hands it back. "I'm terribly sorry, but the rules stipulate that you must have a specific note for each instance of entry to Special Collections, deliniating exactly what you intend to study each time. I'm very sorry. Perhaps you could have a faculty member sponsor your correspondance course, so that they could be responsible for letting you run amuck in knowledge that is dangerous for anyone to have for issuing you passes into Special Collections?"

[Nah, I expect you to enforce the rules; that is what they are for. I just figured I'd naturally ask at the library first.]

Janet chimes in with Zero. "And do you have a library card?" she asks. "The teacher that went into Special Collections without a library card got turned into a newt."

She gives Wes a smirk. "Do you want to get his application papers, or shall I?"

An' it likes all those things, so it doesn' seem likely. Still, we can't ignore the possibility. *shrug* I mean, durin' the zombie invasion, it wouldn' let me look at the magic books in English.

Make sure they know the rules. And if the book's been marked dangerous, you won' be able to take it out of Special Collections.
