BWI Airport | Portalocity Lounge | Saturday Morning

Madison was not pleased when she pushed open the door to the lounge with the Fandom High sign on the door. Like it wasn't bad enough that she had to deal with being dead, now Ron decided to send her to some lame summer camp so Kairos and Nakita couldn't find her.

She slumped in one of the chairs near the door. There was a black suitcase decorated with stickers sitting next to her and a dirty yellow and black backpack at her feet. Her eyes were glued to the door in search of any danger that might be incoming - in the form of dark reapers or new classmates.

Wesley had traveled by Portal a number of times in the past, to various Watchers' Council events at which his father had demanded his presence, but it remained among his all-time least favorite ways to travel. One could never tell that by looking at him, of course - it had been drilled into him from an early age that a proper Watcher was to maintain decorum and a non-hostile manner at all times.

When he landed, briefcase in hand, at the Portalocity Lounge, he spotted another teenager and thought it would be as good a time as any to begin making a first impression. Only stumbling a little bit under the weight of his bags, he crossed the room rapidly and thrust out his hand to the girl in front of him. "Wesley Wyndam-Pryce," he introduced himself, smiling warmly. It was then that he fully buckled under the weight of his bags and fell. He awkwardly got to his feet and stuck his hand out again. "Are you also on your way to Fandom High?"

"A pleasure to meet you," he said, pumping her hand vigorously. "I think this school will be a fine institution of learning, don't you?" He didn't say that he was only there because his father couldn't get him physically farther from England and the Wyndam-Pryce reputation without sending him to a third-world country.

Try as he might, Alexander couldn't help feeling a little nervous about this. It wasn't really the portals and the traveling to strange lands that did it; he was somewhat well-verse in that sort of thing as of late. But it was merely all the people and the slightly intimidating factor of being surrounded by peers. That was something that might take some getting use to, especially if they all tended to be like his sister. Zounds! But this place was something else, wasn't it? Feeling positively bogged down by his two suitcases and small rucksack, Alexander, dressed in his best puffy sleeved yellow-and-green striped jerkin with his favourite blue and yellow scarves, stopped in the lobby to wait for the shuttle and tried his best not to look around in wonder.

"What a fascinating place!" he couldn't help remarking aloud. "And this just a waiting room, at that!"

This was not Borogravia. Nor was it Überwald, nor Genua, nor was it even Klatchistan. This place was a cow* of a different color all together.

But Maladicta was nothing if not able to adapt to changes. She had her black ribbon,a good hat to keep out the sun and one of her brother's suits that she had not yet gotten around to returning. No spare socks, unfortunately. She'd have to make due.

She managed to not so much sidle as slink over to where the small group of people who also seemed a bit out of place stood and leaned against the wall to wait for whatever was to come. Vampires were exceedingly good at waiting, after all.

*Now that cows were no longer an abomination, that is.

It was difficult to not feel slightly intrigued by the strange young woman parted from the others, although, naturally, there was a certain feeling about her that made Alexander cautious. Still, he wondered if perhaps that was just his nerves, and she could very well simply be a very nice young lady, shy in her own rights. So he, definitely sidling, sidled over beside her.

"Hello," he offered by way of greeting. "Are you excited about the journey ahead of us?"

"Do you have any idea how much longer it's supposed to be before the shuttle to Fandom gets here?" Quinn asked a random girl standing near her. (Cute suit. Working the menswear look, she though.)

She sounded a little exasperated, but she generally did.

The place looked...normal. That didn't particularly calmed Cloud, but it didn't get him on guard as well. Even though the gigantic sword was there, hanging on his back, and he was more than willing to take it out, just to make sure this wasn't about to turn into some sort of battlefield.

Man, he had spend too much time running around and saving the world. Hence why he was there, trying to open his mind, cool his head, do something different. Suffice to say he wasn't too sure about it.

Let's keep it quiet for now. See? That was him, behaving.

Far be it for Farnsworth to take up the offer for a free ride...especially when he didn't seem to have much choice in the matter.

Of course, it might be a moot point. It all depends on if anyone bothers to wake up the old man who seemed to have fallen asleep, head back, snoring slightly and definitely with a little bit of drool, in the corner.

Katniss had never traveled by this strange portal method -- though she was hardly surprised that the Capitol had access to such things. She'd hardly slept since she'd left District 12, her mind racing as she moved from train to hovercraft to portal.

So, it was a tired, irritable-looking girl who was standing by the assorted trunks, her hair knotted back in a braid and her arms crossed over her comfortable tunic and pants. She surveyed the others in the waiting room, her eyes already seeking out enemies and potential allies. (Those were scarce.)

Quinn hadn't worn her Cheerios uniform on the flight, but only because she had the vague, itchy feeling that wearing it this far from WMHS might be a little sacrilegious. She idly fingered the cross on her necklace as she looked around the terminal. So far, nobody had impressed her ... but that might be a good thing.

She smiled a bit blandly as she continued to scope out the competition.

It hardly seemed fair to Wesley that everyone else was in the midst of conversations except this girl. He walked over to her, taking care to keep his baggage pinned to his sides so as not to trip over it, and ultimately failing - and falling onto the ground. Sheepishly, he got back up and stuck his hand out to the girl as if it'd never happened. Good lord, how many times was he going to trip today? Surely this was at least the fifth. "Wesley Wyndam-Pryce," he introduced himself, and awaited a handshake.

Oh, and what a bus driver he was! Aquaman had enjoyed the brief week off where he could go home to spend time under the sea with his wife and son, but now it was back to the officious duty of an illustrious Fandom High teacher! And to drive the newest batch of intrepid young Fandom High students to their new school!

The doors of the shuttle went whoosh.

"Salutations and greetings, children!" Aquaman, in all his broad shouldered, green tighted glory, offered by way of introduction. "Welcome aboard the welcome shuttle to the one and only Fandom High! Come aboard, have a seat, don't crowd and please remain seated for the duration of the trip! It won't be long, and we want you all to arrive safe and sound! If you have any questions, please direct them at our courageous chaperone, Captain Price! Together, we shall lead you to a guaranteed outrageous academic and enriching experience! Any questions? Luggage in the compartments under the bus! No need to crowd, there's plenty of room and we wouldn't dream of leaving without anyone! By Neptune's beard, so many fresh new faces and friends!"

He was beaming before he started the speech; now, he was positively glowing with teacherly pride and excitement over the fact that he got to drive the bus! He couldn't wait to tell Mera about it.

Price himself had been, well, let's just say you didn't survive a road trip with Aquaman by being annoyed at his boisterous charms. He had stepped out, ready to help the students with stowing the luggage. He was dressed not in uniform, but plain clothes. The fact you could easily add a kevlar vest and night vision goggles and he'd be ready for covert ops was just a coincidence. Really.

"As he said, I'm Captain Price. And questions, feel free to speak up now. I promise to answer them in an orderly fashion, assuming you give them in one," he said. He smiled. "Now then, who wants to load up first, eh?"

Cloud didn't like the driver.

Yet he had a question.

"What do you mean by Academic?" Hoo boy, he was starting to regret this.
