BWI Airport | Portalocity Lounge | Saturday Morning

Madison was not pleased when she pushed open the door to the lounge with the Fandom High sign on the door. Like it wasn't bad enough that she had to deal with being dead, now Ron decided to send her to some lame summer camp so Kairos and Nakita couldn't find her.

She slumped in one of the chairs near the door. There was a black suitcase decorated with stickers sitting next to her and a dirty yellow and black backpack at her feet. Her eyes were glued to the door in search of any danger that might be incoming - in the form of dark reapers or new classmates.

This was not Borogravia. Nor was it Überwald, nor Genua, nor was it even Klatchistan. This place was a cow* of a different color all together.

But Maladicta was nothing if not able to adapt to changes. She had her black ribbon,a good hat to keep out the sun and one of her brother's suits that she had not yet gotten around to returning. No spare socks, unfortunately. She'd have to make due.

She managed to not so much sidle as slink over to where the small group of people who also seemed a bit out of place stood and leaned against the wall to wait for whatever was to come. Vampires were exceedingly good at waiting, after all.

*Now that cows were no longer an abomination, that is.

"Is that where this is going?" Maladicta asked, glancing around at the crowds passing by.

Looking the girl over, Maladicta smiled again. "Summer camp? Should I be afraid?"

"Is it anything like knitting?"

"I've heard it has it's merits." It was no coffee, mind...

It was difficult to not feel slightly intrigued by the strange young woman parted from the others, although, naturally, there was a certain feeling about her that made Alexander cautious. Still, he wondered if perhaps that was just his nerves, and she could very well simply be a very nice young lady, shy in her own rights. So he, definitely sidling, sidled over beside her.

"Hello," he offered by way of greeting. "Are you excited about the journey ahead of us?"

It might have been the sharpness of her teeth when she smiled at him, tipping the hat back to give him a better look. "It seems everyone save for me was expecting to arrive here."

Were those...?

No. Couldn't be. Alexander figured it was just a trick of the light, or simply that not everyone had as naturally straight and perfect teeth as he did.

"You are here unexpectedly?" he asked, his intrigue growing. "Was it the work of an evil wizard?"

Because he knew how that went, did he ever...

Twas a trick of the mullet!

"A wizard?" They were too busy eating more than anyone needed and lazing about, weren't they? "No, I think it was more a wrong turn somewhere."

A very, very wrong turn.

"Oh," said Alexander, not exactly knowing what she meant, but trying to understand all the same.

"Then you're lucky there wasn't a pit down that turn. Or some other surprising trap..."

Even as he said it, though, he trailed off slightly, looking suspiciously toward the shuttles outside with new eyes. It was entirely possible, he supposed...

He was interesting, at least.

She offered her hand, posture perfect as she stepped away from the wall. "Maladicta."

Zounds, he'd done it again! Forgotten to properly introduce himself to a lady! He could just hear Rosella tittering and making fun of him in his head.

"O--Of course!" Alexander said, straightening up almost as if to match her posture as he stepped back enough to take her hand, lift it slightly as he bent stiffly to kiss it, a gesture that could clearly use more practice. "How foolish of me! I am Prince Alexander of Daventry. It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Maladicta."

It was only after he said the name that he noticed how it had that particular evil flavor to it, but that might have just been his bad experiences with magicians named with Ms and all that...

"That's a very...distinctive name," he couldn't help remarking, because those experiences did tend to run down family lines, and he was suddenly suspicious that this was going to turn into another one of those adventures.

"One of many," she assured him. "My family was rather fond of the... old traditions when it came to names."

Which tended to make one sound like a villain in a B horror movie.

"Do you have any idea how much longer it's supposed to be before the shuttle to Fandom gets here?" Quinn asked a random girl standing near her. (Cute suit. Working the menswear look, she though.)

She sounded a little exasperated, but she generally did.

Maladicta cracked one eye open to look her over before shrugging. "Hopefully soon. I only have so much coffee with me."

Re: Waiting

[identity profile] chief-cheerio.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
"There should be a place that sells it somewhere around here," Quinn said, glancing about the terminal. "At least a Dunkin' Donuts. They're everywhere."

Re: Waiting

[identity profile] inneedofcoffee.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
"...Dunkin Donuts?"

Sadly, Borogravia had none of these magical places.

"Uh-huh," Quinn craned her neck, looking for the familiar orange sign. "It's over there, see? Get me a black coffee if you're going."

Re: Waiting

[identity profile] inneedofcoffee.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
It was as though Quinn had shown her the one true path in life. The path to coffee greatness.

"...I think I could get used to this place," Maladicta said with a dreamy sort of smile. All sharp fangs and happiness.

Wow, that girl had some pointy incisors. Quinn smiled back, then politely looked away.

"At least somebody's happy."

"An entire place that sells coffee?" she asked, closing her eyes and she inhaled. "We don't have anything like that back home."
