Warren was not happy to mingle, and he made that fact known by sitting himself down at an empty table, grabbing himself a plate of food, and giving nasty, grumpy, antisocial looks at anyone who dared consider sitting down by him.

Like Teddy could do anything other than try to be friendly.

He was gonna get smacked so bad for this one day. Maybe then he'd learn to avoid the brooding loner types...

Warren attempted to reinforce his distaste at being spoken to by adding a bit of a lip curl and a sneer to his expression. Maybe that would do the trick.

Of course, he'd been spoken to. So he'd grunt a little in acknowledgment and hope that the friendly blond kid didn't decide to make himself too comfortable at his table, dammit.

"I'm Teddy," He said, less cheer, but no less determination. "Are you new?"

"Yes," Warren replied, hoping that doing so didn't give the kid the impression that he was prone to bouts of conversation. Words had a funny way of doing that, he'd found. "Just got here."

Stupid words anyhow.

"Have you gotten to meet your big sibling yet?" Teddy asked, soldiering on bravely into an honest to god conversation.

"This place can be... um... kinda weird without any explanation."

"Maybe," Warren said, being as noncommittal as possible because the sib's mun is at work and hasn't logged on yet. "I'm used to weird."

Really. He was. Teddy should have seen Warren's old Mad Science teacher.

There was a pause for consideration while Warren reconsidered this statement.

"What's your definition of weird?" Better safe than sorry, Warren supposed. Even if it meant venturing on into actual talking. Ugh.

Warren's table, clearly, was grand central station. Next time, he'd sit under a tree or something.

"Mmn."

See. It was totally some form of response. Hopefully, it was a response that properly conveyed how much Warren hated everything.

He had the creeping notion that this girl wasn't going to leave it at that. Stupid stubborn social people.

"That's alright," she assured him. "I'll talk to you anyway." Yes.

"You do realize," Warren said, narrowing his eyes and trying to look as perturbed as he possibly could, "that I already don't like you?"

He figured he was going to have to make this known. Just in case this girl couldn't figure it out for herself.

Oh, as if Helen would be bothered by that. She sat at the table, gave him a Look of her own and continued to Not Exactly Glare at people in general.

Somehow? Rikku was drawn to the grumpy, antisocial types.

She had a feeling they needed hugs.

"Hiya!" she chirped, plopping down across the table from him. "I'm Rikku. Are you new here?"

"Yes. This is apparently a busy table."

He was debating getting up and finding his way to his room. But he was here first, damn it.

"Do you like it?" she chirped, oblivious to the dark, rolling hate. Or at least not minding it. "It's nice here. Weird, but nice. What's your name? Where are you from?"

It was dark, rolling, seething, festering hate.

"Warren Peace. Maxville. So far, it's... Antarctica."

He was very forthcoming with the information, wasn't he? He was.

"I know, it's cold," Rikku said, glaring at the icebergs. "It's not allowed to be cold! It's summer! That's just seriously no fair."

Warren glanced at the icebergs, grunted, and then prodded crankily at the potato salad on his plate.

"I thought someone had fired a freeze-ray at the water or something. Knowing it's Antarctica is almost... anticlimactic."
