Karal had slept. Sort of. Regardless, he was back at the library at sunrise.

He made himself sit down with a cup of tea while he waited for everyone to arrive.

After finding Lana in worse shape, Chris high-tailed it over to the library. He was determined not to sleep or do anything else until he figured out what was going on and made her better.

Her efforts to find sleep last night proving futile, Adah limped again into the library in hopes that other searches would end up more successful. She looked a little rough around the edges...spending the last week in nothing but books rough, though, thankfully, not ridden with evil little parasites rough, and she had an apologetic look on her face for the others for not exactly being up to par. She was there to work, though, and that was what she was going to do.

Karal closed his eyes, offered up a brief prayer to Vkandis for both guidance and protection, and unlocked the door. With Altra standing alertly by his side, he opened it, braced for what they might find.

He let out a short surprised breath when all he saw was more library. Rows and rows of books, in all different shapes and sizes, and he took a hesitant step inside.

There was a feeling of being watched, as if some great predator hovered just out of sight, ready to pounce if they put a foot wrong. Altra flattened his ears. "I think," Karal said, looking back over his shoulder. "We are very lucky. Be careful, please, and if you find something, just call for the others."

Several hours had passed, time in which the sudden glimpses of pink became more frequent. As Karal came around the end of an aisle, he saw a shadow, reaching for him, but when he flinched away, there was nothing there.

It was the flinch that caused his eyes to fall on the book. Bottom shelf, shoved between volumes far larger, it was leather bound, looked hand-made, and had Home Island, 1707 scrawled in faded ink on the spine.

He pulled it off the shelf with hands that shook slightly and opened it, carefully turning pages. He went pale as he read. "I've found--" His voice cracked, and he cleared his throat. "I found something," he called, possibly a bit louder than he meant to.

Sam wasn't sure why the library was so quiet when he got there, but he wasn't going to complain about having silence in which to work. Plus, it meant he couldn't be considered an accessory later if everyone else was off getting themselves into trouble.

Sleep had done wonders for his mood (and he'd only admit that to one person), so it was a considerably less tense and less exhausted looking Fraser who found himself in the library that morning.

Seeing that Karal was busy, he waited a moment before trying to get his attention.

A man in a red uniform was always going to get Karal's attention, even if his first reaction was to wonder why there was a bard in the library. Maybe he'd spent too much time in Valdemar.

With an effort, he forced his thoughts back under control and hurried over. "Constable Fraser? Has something happened?"
